My first serious attempt at making a Standard deck.
As can be seen, this is BUG control with Reaper of the Wilds, AEtherling, Vraska the Unseen,Kiora, the Crashing Wave and as the win conditions.
Control Tools:
Dissolve - Counterspell and card quality, bread and butter of a control deck.
Essence Scatter and Negate - Cheap counter spells that combine to cover all spells that can be countered.
Hero's Downfall - A must have in any deck in black. ANY
Putrefy - More kill for only 3!
Underworld Connections - Constant card advantage with the cost that can be mitigated by Deathrite Shaman. (among one of his many useful abilities).
Creatures:
Deathrite Shaman - Talking about this man, amazing 1 drop. Mostly used in this deck as a blocker for 1/1s, life gain to equalize Underworld Connectios, and dead creature removal to disrupt Reanimator decks.
Sylvan Caryatid - Just some casual ramp, fixing, and a good way to slow done aggro. It is also really hard to kill.
Lifebane Zombie - Situational, will want to replace this with another Thoughtseize.
Reaper of the Wilds - Great Utility card. Gives all my kill spells Scry 1, stops attacks and attacks through with deathtouch, and is very hard to touch with hexproof for the turn. Defiantly a great way of getting to one of my bombs and can in some cases end games.
AEtherling - You cannot stop the AEtherling, you can just pay that I never draw AEtherling and I have 7 or more mana.
Planeswalker:
Now for some alternate win conditions,
Vraska the Unseen - Again protects herself and kills when needed. Assassin Tokens are also always fun.
Kiora, the Crashing Wave - Protects herself and explores to accelerate if I want it. Also has one of the funnest ultimate.... RELEASE THE KRAKENS
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver - Ashiok has actually done wonders for me on MtGO because of all the decks that are running Courser of the Kruphix.
(Question: If Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver uses her -X on Nightmare, Do we then get a Nightmare Nightmare Horse, a Nightmare Horse Nightmare, or a Horse Nightmare Nightmare?)
The situational cards:
Ratchet Bomb - Anti-aggro all the way.
Pithing Needle - Stops annoying Planeswalkers and other activated abilities
Unravel the Aether - I great way to deal with Gods AND the ever annoying Assemble the Legion.
