The goal of this deck is to counter any and all spells before the are played--making your opponent think twice before casting any spells, and buying time until you are ready to launch your attack--as well as using lifegain to ensure you don't die so easy, and using artifacts like cranial archive and Elixir of Immortality to recover any spell you discard or use. This deck is also intended to fill the opponents graveyard with spells by countering them and blocking them. Battlefield Thaumaturge is a key spell in this deck.
There are three types of non-land/non-instant/non-sorcery spells in this deck--blue creatures, colorless creatures, and artifacts. This is where things get tricky. Since the goal of this deck is to be untouchable, you don't want to find yourself unable to cast counter spells; however, you need mana to cast creatures, artifacts, and abilities. The solution? Wait until you have enough mana to cast a counter and the chosen non-counter spell. The ideal counter spells are not limited by the color &/or converted mana cost of target, and are not easily countered as well as being cheap. Once you have colorless creatures and the Tomb of the Spirit Dragon in play, you can pay two mana and tap the Tomb of the Spirit Dragon to gain life for each colorless creature you control--this is useful if you are low on life.

Use gargoyle sentinel's ability to lose defender and gain flying to your advantage! Combine all of these artifacts into one chain combo!!!
