Wow cool deck idea! I've never considered alternative win methods like this before.

Since the goal of your deck is to win with either Azor's Elocutors or Approach of the Second Sun, I would add another of each. Some other excellent creatures to consider adding are: Council of the Absolute, Banisher Priest, and Trapjaw Tyrant.

I'm sure you've considered these other spells, but I'll point then out just in case: Pacifism, Bonds of Faith, Lyev Decree, Counterspell, Cancel, Mindstatic, Indestructibility, Captured by the Consulate, and Silence.

Anyway, looks great and I'd be nervous playing against this!

I do agree with the person above. If she isn't quite getting it, maybe ease her in with the 30 card beginner decks. You can get them for free at most local game stores.

As for the deck nothing more simple then Counterspell. Mana Leak and Remand are also good choices. Spelljack for lol's, although that might be a tad complicated. And if you really wanna burn money Mana Drain

I see Glen Elendra Archmage in the maybe board. I feel like that's a must if you can afford it. Phyrexian Arena seems like a must as well.

Sygg, River Cutthroat seems good with all the flyers you have. Coastal Piracy is great card advantage. And if you wanna go all in on mill Phenax, God of Deception

Also one or two good mass creature kill spells. Anything from Damnation and Toxic Deluge on the expensive powerful end, to Extinguish All Hope or Deadly Tempest on the cheaper but less powerful end.

If I were making this deck I would cut, Sea Sprite, Wasp Lancer, Oona's Gatewarden, Wind Dancer, Killing Glare, Mindstatic, and Haunted Cloak

I said a lot but I really enjoy this deck. Fairie beat down! If your girl friend get's into it I think she'll really enjoy it.

IZZETannoying loads of these cards are ones I have, so that's a big pro from your advice.

I've also managed to get my hands on some other cards. More control/defense, or digging:- Lost Auramancers- Render Silent- Mindstatic- Sphere of Safety (IMO, better than a Ghostly Prison if you play 10+ enchantments)- Mystic Speculation

Any of those that could be of use?

Also, I really like to keep those goddesses, grand arbiter and reflector mage, as well as the shieldmate. Shieldmate gives my gods or my arbiter Hexproof which means they can't be removed as easily. But only two at most.

Some possible improvements:

• Brainstorm and Impulse looks much better than Anticipate.
• Mystic Confluence is much better than Jace's Ingenuity
• Arcane Denial, Dispel, Force of Will, Mana Drain, Muddle the Mixture, Pact of Negation, Swan Song, Delay, Negate - anything of these counterspells could replace: Contradict, Deprive, Dismiss, Dissolve, Mindstatic, Rewind, Scatter Arc, Syncopate
• Banishing Light coud be replaced with Grasp of Fate
• Gilded Drake - very powerful card,
• Replenish - you have enchantment-based strategy, so this card could be very useful
• Fact or Fiction
• Sun Titan
• Aura of Silence - very good spell for controling the board and slowing down your opponents
• Luminarch Ascension instead of Myth Realized
• Monastery Siege
• Grand Arbiter Augustin IV

If. If I see cards like that in the early game. I could shuffle and those cards are in the bottom 50. I never ever put a card in that isn't 100$ effective at every stage of the game. Cards like Mana Leak aren't good at later stages. I would not use Mystic Confluence as some of it isn't good at every stage.

However, I will replace Mindstatic with Dismiss.

Spells like Mana Leak can be payed past in the late game, sure. Doesn't mean they aren't effective in the early game, where you can kill people's attempts at gaining an early advantage. Their use in commander is limited, so I won't be pressing you to hard about those, but at the very least Mystic Confluence easily has the versatility to be worth 1 mana more than Mindstatic which you should at least run Dismiss over anyway; if you're going to be countering for 4 cmc at least make it a good counterspell instead of a crap one.

Listen to the guy, Nullstone Gargoyle is garbage for 9 mana. As it also affects you, it counters your own counters if your opponents are smart enough to play around it. Glen Elendra Archmage is basically two counters for the price of one.

Also good counters you aren't running: Mana Leak, Spell Pierce, and Mystic Confluence. Forbid is also strictly superior to Cancel, and if you have the draw to support it, opponents beware. Take out Mindstatic for at least one of these; your opponents shouldn't be able to pay past a 4-cmc counterspell.
