Maindeck

Lands- The reason why the deck doesn't have any 1 drops outside the sideboard is in a three color deck ideally our first turn play is either a Triome or Fabled passaging up whatever our hand is lacking. Castle Ardenvale for late game humans to feed to Kudro and Castle Locthwain for card draw late game because I expect like main midrange decks that don't contain blue it's easy to run out of gas. The lands are configured to ideally have double black on turn 3 along with double white by turn 4 with red more of being a splash that we should consistently hit turn 3.

Creatures - For the most part it's all about turning on Hero of Precinct One and tribal synergies of humans. With Hero's Bodyguard I tried to focus on playing Legendary Humans. Tajic works amazingly with Hero's bodyguard and provides protection against practically all wraths. Judith and Kudro are mainly there for their anthem effect while also providing other upside like pinging and graveyard hate. Syr Konrad, Tesya and Order of Midnight are there for if the games go longer and still provide some synergy with our deck, essentially allowing us an evasive way to get through a stalled board for same last points of damage. Judith with Syr Konrad and Tesya all have synergy together that still work in a vacuum.

Instants - Dire Tactics is an amazing piece of removal that triggers with Hero, and the fact that it exiles is just gravy. Bedevil is I imagine a questionable card in this deck; I tried to cut it multiple times but every time I just came back to it as the deck's way to deal with artifacts and planeswalkers outside of combat damage. If Murderous Rider provided any synergies with the deck I would be much more open to it but I would much more lean toward splashing green for the Abzan Mythos than go that route.

Planeswalkers: Both Planeswalkers are filling a void in our 4 CMC slot as I've noticed that a lot of legendary humans fill the 3 CMC slot, but both do provide synergies either with the human or multicolor theme. Sorin allows us to get back key pieces of our humans that may have died (mainly bodyguard) and Elspeth provides recursion for late game while also giving us human fodder to either buff via anthems or throw at a creature with Kudro.

Enchantment: I was looking for a catchall and just a overall powerful card in a vacuum and Elspeth Conquers death seemed fairly decent being able to answer their biggest threat and eventually provide us value in a few turns.


Sideboard

Agonizing Remorse is mainly for ramp and control taking either their payoffs or their curve.

Deafening Clarion may seem weird in a deck full of creatures but I want to try it out against aggro, it also has a "Combo" with Tajic and General's Bodyguard with Bodyguard providing Tajic indestructible and General's Bodyguard not able to take damage from noncombat sources, essentially making this a one sided wrath.

Devout Decree for exile effects mainly against Rakdos (or any) sacrifice decks.

Light of Hope for aggro matchups along with being our enchantment removal.

Noxious Grasp for the all the green decks.

Plaguecrafter is probably the most iffy in my sideboard slot with the idea being that it does get buffed by being a human (and ideally sacrificing a hero token if we can). I mainly wanted a way to deal with cards like Dream Trawler in the side while not being dead in other match ups.


Main Considerations

I thought about making this deck work in Abzan colors but the Legendary Humans seem to be primarily red based. My main thought is perhaps trying to splash for green for Mythos (and essentially be 4C), though its very likely it would stretch the mana base too thin as I don't want to instantly concede to Field of Ruin or Assasin's Trophy.

The other main consideration is making a cut somewhere for Icon of Ancestry. This card seems great as another anthem effect that provides us with late game draw. My main reservation is the sheer amount of bounce and artifact destruction effects in standard as the moment along with it not directly impacting the game unless I'm already on the board.
