Devout Decree

Sorcery

Exile target creature or planeswalker that's black or red. Scry 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put that card on the bottom of your library.)

I would actually argue that powerful but niche cards like Veil of Summer and Aether Gust is something the format needs more of. They aren't strictly better than other counterparts, but give some "narrow" hate that can be quite powerful in the right matches. We need more hate-cards in the format which are relevant in this manner. Wedge hate cards like this are great, and it's a shame that they aren't all at the same power level.

Cards like Devout Decree, Celestial Purge, Noxious Grasp, Deathmark, Fry, and Rending Volley just aren't powerful enough. White does get some decent creatures that fit the mold like Auriok Champion and Sanctifier en-Vec but those require a little more than a slight splash.

So in conclusion, rather than argue that Veil of Summer (a fixed Autumn's Veil) is too powerful, I would argue that the counterparts from other colors are just too weak, being outclassed by normal removal options.

We need more narrow cards that fit into what the color wants to do, and hate against what its enemy colors want to do better. For example, maybe some kind of Searing Blaze type of effect (deals with creatures and goes face) for against , and a effect against that punishes them for swarming and is a form of removal.

Ianhannah1704 Yes thats why he is in the sideboard :) Companion mechanic requires the companion to be in the sideboard.

Young_Shaman Sorry for the delayed response but here's what I found. I believe this is a more midrange build, having a lot of removal options and efficient graveyard hate that can play a big role in some matchups. Also it is quite good at exiling. Jeskai control is quite good against us especially game 1 if they sweep our board, although I have pulled out some wins with double zenith flare quite a few times. But post side-board I don't think they are too bad. This is mainly because of Thought Distortion. I wouldn't play Zenith Flare before we can thought distortion their hand, and there is nothing they can do about it. I would take out General Kudro for the two and maybe an Angrath's rampage. We are quite all in on the Zenith Flare plan but sometimes thats just how the cookie crumbles. But if we dont find the thought distortions then it will probably end poorly.

Lurrus oven is definitely a hard matchup in all iterations of the deck I have built. It mostly depends on Dire Tactics to exile their creature, especially Lurus when he is played. Claim the Firstborn is rough, especially early. I think the strongest thing we can do is have a Valiant Rescuer making many tokens, and ofcourse we need Kudro to help exile their graveyard. I think this deck plays enough exile cards to keep the matchup clean. And sideboard we get 4 Devout Decree to exile more at instant speed. We are kind of like a control matchup and if we can get the General Kudro, Valiant Rescuer engine running it helps a lot to stop them. Just don't make human tokens until they tap their ovens.

Finally I have played around with a more aggro iteration of the deck. But before I talk about it I just want to say that these cycling decks are what I think the be among the hardest decks to play with really tough decisions. Even I find myself making sub-optimal plays time and time again. But you were talking about aggro and wanting the untapped white source and this deck Boros Lurrus Cycling (it should work this time) is a great deck too. But I have mostly played this one in best of 1s. Honestly the Lurrus oven decks are still really hard. But the deck has great staying potential, you can look at the deck and I will put a description in today. It feels like a great aggro deck and doesn't suffer from a lot of the clunkiness this deck does. But I don't know if its post-sideboard matchups will be as strong as this one. Its very much a fast aggro deck compared to this one I would brand as more midrange. Let me know what you think.

Last I like what you said about the lands, I will make the change.

First off really like the deck I've been wanting to see something with giants in standard for a while. I would recommend Banishing Light over Mortify it's not an instant but it hits more stuff and is easier to cast. For the sideboard, I'd probably put in some more board wipes and interventions. 1 cry 2 Deafening Clarion for example. Noxious Grasp is always a good sideboard with how oppressive BGx is currently, and with Heliod, Sun-Crowned white decks might be big as well. Devout Decree isn't bad either as a 2 off. If red decks become a problem Redcap Melee would be a good option, there seem to be some good Gruul decks out there so maybe it will be good.

Solar Blaze is another board wipe, but it's more situational.

I would personally replace Justice Strike with Response / Resurgence (or possibly Lava Coil ).

I would also replace Ugin, the Ineffable for Chandra, Fire Artisan or maybe Chandra, Acolyte of Flame . Chandra, Fire Artisan is cheaper and still gets you card advantage and damage. Chandra, Acolyte of Flame gives you damage, can put a counter on The Royal Scions or lets you reuse a spell (ex: Dance of the Manse or Deafening Clarion ). For the same mana cost you could get one of the other Mythic Chandras, but neither of them give you the card advantage.

For the sideboard it really just depends on which decks you think this one will have the most trouble with, and then you sideboard in to deal with those colors. For example, if your deck does fine against aggressive red decks, then there's no need to sideboard in against red but you should sideboard in against, for example, if your deck does bad against control or black decks.

Devout Decree is the one card I want to really point out the value, it's 2 cost to exile a creature or a planeswalker and it gets you a scry, so it's basically a better Prison Realm for Black and Red. Aether Gust has the nice effect of being able to counter, with the downside of them being able to choose to put it on top of their library (at least I believe this is how the card works).

Cavalier of Thorns already has some good removal if you need to get rid of an enchantment or two. So, Disenchant may not be necessary.

Reckless Air Strike is a card to consider if you want artifact removal, but I don't personally think your deck needs it.

Thanks for the input! Realm-Cloaked Giant was in at one point over Time Wipe but I swapped for those corner cases of saving my Cavalier of Dawn but I'm not sold on that and am open to going back

As for the sideboard suggestions Fry used to be in over Shock and that's another I'm not sold on, just needs some testing. I haven't played enough with Aether Gust or Devout Decree to judge their worth, but at the moment Disenchant feels very out of place and might get swapped. And I hadn't ever considered Redcap Melee , another I have very little experience with how good it is but it could be worth a try.

Also, for sideboard cards you might consider:

Fry

Aether Gust

Devout Decree

Redcap Melee

My only suggestion prior to the Throne of Eldraine release would be to go up a bit on lands. Given that you are running Cavalier of Gales and Dungeon Geists , you want to make sure you can play those within a reasonable amount of time. As for sideboard, consider the M20 hate cards ( Devout Decree and Aether Gust ) as well as counterspells like Negate . As for the mainboard, just play whatever works. Test the deck against people in your LGS or where ever you play and see what happens.

Megalomania, yes, Beast Within , Oblivion Ring , Anguished Unmaking , Devout Decree in my case... Will try to include some and enchant removal, to be better protected. Thanks for the advice in any case.
