Learn from the Past Kind of really narrow but devastating to certain decks/matchups we may see. Also if we arent against a big graveyard based threat, it in essence has built in 1U Cycling since it cantrips. Except that counts as a cast and grows the +1/+1s. It answers something that is powerful when abused and it's ENTIRELEY worthless outside those matchups. Grim Affliction I'd argue this is an autoinclude for sure. For obvious reasons I think. Trail of Evidence not sure if this would end up worthwhile or just choke a card slot but looked interesting. Viral Drake Gives us some air blocker meat and a way for you to dump mana at their end step if you have some left and help us grow. Howling Mine was also on my list. We want spells cast we just want to them mitigate them so we are going to need the fuel/card draw to make sure we have the RIGHT answers. Baleful Strix is pure value in most any deck. Cantrips and 1 time deadly air defense. Ghost Quarter, Encroaching Wastes, Strip Mine, Tectonic Edge, Wasteland - a couple to take care of possible show stoppers like Maze of Ith against us would be nice. Not to mention all the other utility lands people run we might want gone. I have too many slots dedicated to fixing so i cant run many of these colorless only sources. (though I did still slot a Wasteland). There's a ton of land destruction at sorcery in black, but i dont want to clog too many slots with something other than removal or it's going to get inconsistent fast. Befoul is probably on point for the versatility of it. I dream of Helldozer lmao but probably not...

I did a quick search on gatherer and there are a few other black land destruction cards you could consider: Wrecking Ball, Befoul, Fulminator Mage. Also it's technically not land destruction and has a prettty high cmc,but Herald of Leshrac is pretty sweet.

AceGambitDragonfly I've tried Befoul, and Despoil first. They work well, but a little mainboard artifact destruction can go a long way I found. I also updated by removing Demolish and adding in Icefall since I can get it back in some cases.

Yes, it is to thin the deck a bit. Those are good suggestions! I had Surgical Extraction before but with split second, Extirpate was a little better. I like Befoul though!!! So flavorful! Thank you so much ChubyCryBaby!

Choking Sands is also not modern legal :-/. Rain of Tears maybe if you are looking for land destruction? It's the same CMC, just no damage. Befoul for 4CMC can destroy a non black card also if need be.

Instead of, from 4 Boom 4 Molten Rain, no stone rain, 3 Wrecking Ball, 3 Befoul.
So now have 10 creature removal, ways to deal with creatures,in 3 Wrecking Ball, 2 Befoul, 3 Acidic Slime, 2 Incendiary Command, which is better than 9, while allowing 2 3 cmc stone rain.
It may only seem like a minor tweak, 1,2 of 1, 2 card difference, but it is a improvement, so that can BOTH destroy land a little tiny bit more consistent turns 1,2,3, while being a little tiny bit more consistent at dealing with creatures.
I playtested about 13 sample hand games on the sample hand thing, with the new changes, and the deck is even better, runs even more consistently, smoothly at destroying lands by, on turns 1,2,3, and while getting stuff, to deal with creatures more consistently, etc.

Ok, found the missing link card, that both destroys either a land or creature, for 3,4 cmc, that 4 cmc, that has no bad, negative, side effects like a 3/3 for foe, etc.
Of course would have been nice if it had been 3 cmc, instead of 4 cmc.
So going to turn the 3 Stone Rains, into 4 Molten Rain, 3 Befoul.
Between 3 Wrecking Ball, 3 Befoul, and 3 Acidic Slime, and 2 Incendiary Command, that's 11 ways to deal with creatures, which is PLENTY.
And because the Boom, Molten Rain 4 of's, while the other 4 cmc land destruction cards are 3 of's, and 5 cmc Slime, a 3 of, and the 5 cmc Primal Command, Incendiary Command are 2 of's, then the 4 of Boom, 4 of Molten Rain, should come out often enough to destroy lands turns 1,2,3.
