Doombeard1984 on Miirym, Spooky Lizard Flap-Flap!!!

Thank you for your comment AkaAkuma, and appreciate the ideas.
You are correct in that I partially lean into the idea of making a few extra tokens of Miirym, but I also use effects like making copies of Roaming Throne (because it is super dumb in this deck), and things like Parallel Lives/Adrix and Nev, Twincasters to just double out my tokens. I did check out your build, and it is very sweet (+1 duly given). The only other Clones I would love to add would be Sakashima of a Thousand Faces and Sakashima the Impostor respectively. I have very little recursion in the deck, and so whilst I would retain copies from the Miirym trigger, returning these clone cards from my graveyard should I need too, would require quite the rebuild. The 2 above, I simply don't have copies of, and (unfortunately) am not in a position to currently purchase them.
Utvara Hellkite again is simply a card I do not own, and if I did, it would likely replace Lathliss, Dragon Queen. She only triggers on non token ETB, and whilst additional triggers from Roaming Throne are nice, I just thing Utvara is a simple upgrade.
Sneak Attack does seem fun for some shenanigans, as can "surprise" people for blocks, as well as just making that combo damage finish much easier. Will see how I can fit that one in.
Mirror of Life Trapping seems like a fun card, but dear lord I struggle with tracking all the triggers anyway, this looks like it would make my brain explode lol.
Thanks again for your comment, appreciate it

It seems that you already lean into the idea with Spark Double/Cursed Mirror - but i build Miirym as a "copy" commander, and only included some of the beefy dragons to top it off.
Visage Bandit can be plotted turn(s) before Miirym enters, then you cast the bandit on the turn Miirym enters. Miirym creates a non-legend token, Visage bandit dies by legend rule but now you have copy token that can be copied without legend rule issues.
1 Miirym turns to 2, another copy now makes 5 Miirym (2 existing + 2 new + copy), a third copy spell and you have 11 Miiryms... And this gets wild easily with Dragon Tempest or Scourge of Valkas.
Other good options are Naga Fleshcrafter that can make everything a Miirym (or a Utvara Hellkite) in a pinch. Pirated Copy is a great one. Dack's Duplicate gives all Miirym tokens haste,... and there are many more options.
I also really love Sneak Attack with Miirym, and another fun one to copy etb's is Mirror of Life Trapping. Just make sure the mirror isn't removed while Miirym is exiled with it.

legendofa as you mention, trying to directly compare rarer cards can be tricky due to lots of effects being unique. But also due to the natural power-creep of magic making comparing cards across years difficult/muddy.
I think people feel like they have a particular grasp on what extra pips constitute in a card, but it’s difficult to back up those feelings in a factual way that’s not going to have an equal measure of counterpoints.
My own feeling on colour-pips is not that they add any additional “power” to a card, but instead add weight to “how much in-colour does this feel”. Cards like the before-mentioned Seasoned Pyromancer doesn’t feel any better than Fable of the Mirror-Breaker Flip (Fable is the stronger card in many cases), but Pyromancer feels a lot more red in its effects.
My personal inkling is that cards with more pips in a certain colour tend to exhibit more “pure” effects true to a colour, and many of these effects may be scarcely seen in single-pip-variants. That doesn’t mean they’re stronger, just that they have a slightly different set of tools.

wallisface I think this can be resolved by looking at rarity. The most obvious examples I found were mostly common, with a couple of uncommon. At those rarities, there aren't that many different effects, and direct comparison is easy. Constructed formats tend to lean more on rares and unique uncommons, with a healthy splash of mythic rares. At these rarities, there's much more complexity, so it's harder to directly compare cards. In, for example, Modern Boros, is Seasoned Pyromancer a better card than Fable of the Mirror-Breaker Flip? Is either one better than Affinity's Pinnacle Emissary? They have different effects and fill different roles. My position is that where cards can be differentiated solely by color weight, like in my examples above, the card with more color weight creates a bigger/better effect. Genuine question, are there any cards at higher rarities that are so directly comparable? Are the any examples of competitive-tier card comparisons where lower color weight produces a more desirable effect?

legendofa I was not stipulating that mono-colour decks were unpopular - more just illustrating that pip-density doesn’t appear to correlate to power as seen within competitive environments. While mono-coloured decks do crop-up, I wouldn’t consider them to have a big meta-share within formats.
If pip-density did correlate directly to a card being more powerful, then I would expect to see far higher prevalence of those pip-heavy cards in most/all competitive formats.

BotaNickill Thanks! Don't sleep on Vampire Gourmand it does a pretty good job generating cards and letting you sac creatures while sneaking in damage. If they are killing that over an artist or an aristocrat I am happy. Does a bit of a Cartel Aristocrat impression without the protection but with card advantage. I would give Delney, Streetwise Lookout my 100% vote of confidence, this thing is UNREAL. If you untap with it, its often GG. The unblockable and the double triggers are insanity.

wallisface Skimming some current tier lists, it looks like pretty much every major tournament format has at least one monocolor deck in its top four. Vintage has mono- Initiative, Legacy has mono- Mystic Forge and mono- Prison, Pauper has mono- Burn and mono- Terror, Modern has mono-(ish) Eldrazi Tron, Pioneer has mono- Aggro and mono- Midrange, and Standard has mono- Aggro. So while it's not everyone, monocolored decks aren't exactly unpopular.

I feel like this is sort of a “a little bit of column A, a little bit of column B” situation. I think of card strength as being on a sliding scale, with colorless things being VERY basic and utilitarian, one-pip cards being sort of a generic colored mana spell, and then multiple-mono-colored pip cards as being stronger (like what you’re saying, DemonDragonJ). They’re stronger, though, because they’re cast at the exclusion of other colored spells, because the land requirements are tighter. A multi-colored pips spell, though, is (theoretically) better because you’re getting two distinctly color-separate effects. Lightning Helix was probably the first multicolored card I saw like that, that really struck home the idea of “oh, of course. Red for damage, white for life gain. Neat.” The upside is you get both a Lightning Bolt and a Healing Salve (sort of) in just one card… and the downside is that one Counterspell stops everything. Now that I’m typing it out, I think I’m in the camp of “more colored pips generally should mean it’s stronger” but mono colored spells seem more complicated, as if you make it TOO strong then people will revert back to all-monocolored decks, like (I can’t get back to the screen to see who I’m responding after… I’m sorry) was saying. Drain Life is the best example I can think of, where you are severely limited by color. It’s a GREAT card, and I love the theme, but I can’t remember the last time I saw someone use it. WotC has worked really hard to make everything a two or three color minimum, commander and otherwise, so I don’t expect we’ll see much of a resurgence in mono color power. Except for green. Green has always been VERY proud of itself ;p This is why we need more forest walk.

Mana Leak vs. Counterspell. Murder vs. Vanquish the Weak. Greenweaver Druid vs. Llanowar Tribe. There aren't a ton of cards that are directly comparable for color weight and effect, keeping rarity the same, but my general statement is that the more specific the mana cost is, the better the effect is. There's probably a handful of counterexamples, but I submit that not only should it be the case, it generally is the case.

I saw this post on Mark Rosewater's Tumblr page, in which Rosewater stated that the number of colored mana symbols in a card's casting cost are more about how dedicated a player should be to that color than about how powerful the card is, and I am not certain if I agree with that idea, because I feel that a greater number of mana symbols in a card's cost should make it more powerful, such as a card that costs dealing a greater amount of damage than does a card that costs .
What does everyone else say, about this? Do you believe that the number of mana symbols in the casting cost of a card should reflect that card's power? I certainly am interested to hear what you have to say, on this matter.

I have replaced Crosis, the Purger with Sol'Kanar the Tainted, which reduced the average converted mana cost of this deck from 4.26 to 4.24, which is great, because Crosis simply required too much mana to be effective, so anything that can reduce the mana curve of this deck is very nice.

I have replaced Temple Bell with Xira Arien, because Xira is such an unusual and interesting card, and I am aware that she is much more vulnerable than is the bell and that her ability also costs more mana than does that of the bell, but this deck has numerous ways to profit from creatures dying and also to revive creature that have died, so that shall not be a major concern, for me. Unfortunately, I am not certain if I can find room to put Xira, the Golden Sting into this deck, because she would be rgeat, in it.

I thought about the signet and talisman, and I am still thinking of it. Didn't put them in my version 2 coming, but i might need to unless i add enough double-sided.
I don't want to add too many cantrips since the version 2 will mostly focus on getting Peer into the Abyss from any tutor and cast it for free with Marvo's clash ability. Once i have half my deck in my hand, I can cast any card that gives me no maximum hand size. If i don't win that turn or next one with half my deck in hand... I'll take the loss like a champ

Yes, both Terrasymbiosis and Danny Pink are one time use. But Terrasymbiosis counts for each counter. So if 3 counters are put at once, I draw two cards. Danny Pink gives the ability to each creature. So with 2 or more creatures out, that is a draw-two (or more) effect.

Thank you all for the suggestion. All of these are nice, but limited to either counter being put on that single creature (Fathom Mage and Dusk Legion Duelist) or dependent on combat damage.

FormOverFunction The rules for Pauper is that if it's ever been printed at common, and it's not on the ban list, you can use it, and the only way to stop you from using it is banning it.
For your suggestion, let's look at one of my personal favorite bits of jank support, Faithless Looting. All of its prints are common, with four exceptions. One of those is an online-only event reward, two of them are Strixhaven Mythical Archives, and the last one is Secret Lair. None of these use(d) the common rarity, so it's never been upgraded in rarity on power level alone, only as a promotional piece. So it wouldn't be illegal because it's too powerful, it would be illegal because it has a unique and recognizable effect.
Don't get me wrong, brewing with jank is great, and I think a true commons-only format would be interesting to try. But interesting and useful cards tend to get promotional prints outside of common, so the meta would be inherently unstable. I can imagine WotC hypothetically making a tongue-in-cheek Secret Lair with a bunch of Pauper key cards like Writhing Chrysalis, calling it Pauper Power or something and giving them all the gold stamp. Suddenly, a bunch of cards become illegal because of a promotional gag. (It actually took me several tries to find a Pauper meta card that didn't have a higher-than-common print somewhere. They do love their fancy alternates.)
If I throw this comment down the slippery slope into the pits of worst-case scenario, nobody's going to get excited about blocking a Zombie Goliath with a Fortified Rampart.

I understand, and agree, that it would be a pain to track what common cards get reprinted as uncommon or rare… but don’t people have to do that already with pauper? I basically don’t pay any attention to the ban lists and whatnot for commander, but it’s never an issue because the super high-power stuff isn’t usually themely or whatever. I guess what I’m saying is that ALL of it seems like a chore lol but it’d probably be worth it to me to pay that level of attention if it meant playing an all-commons “make do with what you’ve got” format. 40 card or commander.

Doombeard1984 Thank you for the kind words and sharing your hive with me. I too feel old when it comes to MtG.
Every sliver you mentioned is already on my watchlist. However, I am thinking about adding the anthem Slivers back into the hive as my 1/1 and 2/2 are not as threatening. With that said, when I play I either run away with the game or get archenemy out of it.
Board wipes are not a huge issue as I recover really fast with this deck. I had a game where I was board wiped three times and won cuz I was able to keep recasting First. So protection spells are not a priority. Same with recursion spells, yet. I have toyed with the idea of adding some. I run any target removal because I play with a wide variety of players, so I never know what I'm dealing with. The two ramp spells you mentioned are also on my watchlist, but I want to add zero drop mana rocks so I can cascade into.
To my surprise, I never run into mana issue, at least not that I can remember. I will keep your suggestions in mind as I really like them.
