So...I made a UW Tempo deck abusing ETB triggers with Eldrazi Displacer and it seems legit.

Guy won at FNM tonight using an aggro Eldrazi deck that he put together.
Thing was insane. Most of his games were over by turn 4.

Dalektable: I'm brewing up a G/B/W/U deck with Bring to Light, Siege Rhino, Eldrazi Displacer, and Reflector Mage. I feel like I need to enjoy Siege Rhino with Eldrazi Displacer while they're both in standard!

I didn't get a list from him, sorry.
I'll be playing him again in a fortnight so I'll grab a list then.
My partner also played Ugin then paid 0 for his second ability and wiped 7 red Goblin tokens off the field.
lol

Don't bother them in a fortnight I'll already be playing in the pptq
January 22, 2016 12:25 p.m.
No worries.
I'll have a bit of a think to see if I can remember some of the cards.
January 22, 2016 12:28 p.m.
OK these are the cards I remember:

He had some removal but I can't remember what he used.
Hope that helps a bit.

Sound more or less the same as the list I linked before on cfb

"I feel like I need to enjoy Siege Rhino with Eldrazi Displacer while they're both in standard!"
I feel like your opponent will not enjoy that! Gross :)
Personally I would keep it streamlined and stick to a two-colour combination. I know the mana is stupid in standard right now, but I think there's a few U/W tempo decks on the verge of being really great decks (Narset, Noyan Dar, et al). Bouncing Reflector Mage like that continuously sounds awesome. Perhaps though we'll need to wait until the Khans block lands rotate before two colour decks can shine.

somsoc: Right now I don't think there's any reason to only run two colors. The mana easily support 4 colors if you have the fetches. I was already working on a Bring to Light/Siege Rhino deck, and Eldrazi Displacer is the card I need to make it nasty. Both creatures can be found with Bring to Light, as can Reflector Mage and Gilt-Leaf Winnower.
Not sure how to get colorless mana in a deck with 12+ fetches, though. That's the tricky part.

Uh oh.
I forgot to format text.
Devoid aggro list is looking good.
I am making a dual colour deck because I don't NEED a third colour for my idea.
In fact, it is stronger without.

I've been running 5-Color BTL for a couple months now, and I don't think it's possible to run Wastes in addition to the other lands. However, if you're in 4-Color, it might be possible.
January 22, 2016 9:53 p.m.
today went 1-3 at fnm with izzet prowess. I only have 21 land and kept getting flooded so I can't really judge the deck fairly as it was a fluke(I think). Went to three games against esper control, aristocrats, and a rogue starfield of nyx brew(all three losses). My sole win was in two games against BW lifegain.
Brother went 3-1 with my colorless brew inspired by Patrick Chapin's list. Sole loss was due to an unusually high number of abzan charms and rhinos.
How was your first FNM of this standard?

And so I've come up with another devoid aggro midrange mono black splashing Mardu.. Thoughts?

tyforthevenom: The list looks pretty good; you have a nice curve with good creatures. I might replace a Spatial Contortion for a Complete Disregard to round out your curve and swap a creature for a fourth Wasteland Strangler for the added removal effect?
What do you think of Joe Lossett's multiple Top 8s with Bring to Light? Is the deck as effective without all the graveyard recursion, for instance, Izzet Abzan. Here is a link to Lossett's list for those unfamiliar with it.

tyforthevenom says... #20
Contortion can be cast regardless of the lands I have and is more flexible whilst less limited so it's dead a lot less often and strangler is usually just a 3/2 for 3 might swap one forge for a swamp though

Tonight at FNM I took someone's Kozilek, the Great Distortion with my Mob Rule and hit him with his own Eldrazi for game.
Good times.
February 19, 2016 12:23 p.m.
Argeaux, I believe that's called irony, since Lore-wise, Kozilek is capable of mind-control.

Does anyone know of a way to bounce Infinite Obliteration from the graveyard back to your hand? I'm trying to find a way for my next standard deck with only using Origins and Zendikar blocks
February 20, 2016 11:05 a.m.
I'm trying to make UR aggro work. I don't know how competitive it can be. It seems..close? It has the classic good aggro draws where it runs over any opponent in around 5 turns. And the other draws where the game proceeds into the mid-late and it loses, at whatever pace the opponent decides.
Here's roughly the deck I've been using UR Aggro (OGW)
If anyone else has put any thought into this, I'd appreciate suggestions. To be honest I'm not typically an aggro player so I don't have a sense of what direction I should be adjusting the deck to make it more consistently powerful.
February 20, 2016 11:06 a.m.
IcyFire81 the second ability of Jace, Telepath Unbound will let you get your Infinite Obliteration back once.
Volcanic Vision will get it back once.
Cranial Archive would put it back in your library.
None of these are amazing options but they are probably the best you can do right now.

Goblin Dark-Dwellers is the best thing to recur Infinite Obliteration, although Infinite Obliteration is a terrible card.

I played my Cast a Shadow [Top 4 FNM] deck, which has been doing well in my local FNM, at a tournament in Tokyo, and it got slaughtered.
Lots of similar
lists to mine.
I tied one game against

that featured Sylvan Advocate and The Gitrog Monster.
Tough competition.
Great shop. It was called Mint and had just about every card you could imagine.
Picked up a bunch of my and my partner's favourite cards in their Japanese version, and a spare Planar dice.
April 21, 2016 1:36 p.m.
So, I'm not sure if this is the proper place, but I'm curious if anyone could give me some feedback on this deck I have, it seems to need to be a little more consistent.

Is there a possibility of a Silverfur Partisan + Zada, Hedron Grinder infinite combo in the current Standard?
April 26, 2016 4:57 p.m.
SpringingTiger says... #33
Infinite? No, it's not going to go infinite. However, I have seen that combo make about 15-20 tokens in one turn, half of which have haste from Expedite.
April 26, 2016 11:20 p.m.
I bet in Modern it would work, you have more card options. If I could build it, that would be what I would play!
April 26, 2016 11:24 p.m.
You could use the Pyromancer's Goggles to hit Zada with the same spell twice and make double the amount of Tokens.
April 27, 2016 1:41 p.m.
Is Mono-U Brains viable to take down an FNM? I never play standard but the deck is like $25 so why not? I don't want to build it if it won't win though...
April 29, 2016 10:28 p.m.
@ChrisH That depends heavily on the kinds of decks people are playing locally to you. It's an okay deck but it has good and bad matchups just like other decks. If you're talking about the draw-go version with Rise from the Tides as the wincon, it doesn't do well against hard control decks, and opponents with sideboard counterspells will hold up Negates all game, and it doesn't do anything in those match ups. White weenie and werewolf decks are also too fast for it. It also isn't terribly consistent from what I've seen. It seems like a deck that is reliant on match ups.
I think I would suggest building the deck you enjoy playing, because you're not going to win every game of Magic, even with the best deck, and even in the best possible match-up, you can lose to variance or mistakes. Sure you can go there to win on the night but don't be disappointed when you don't.

Hello all! I decided that I'll get into standard now since the field looks pretty open and I happen to have many of the 'good' cards. I'm surprised I haven't seen this discussion thread before now.
I've been tinkering with an Abzan list that pretty much includes all the good cards in Standard in those colors. Do you think it absolutely needs Declaration in Stone, or am I safe with what I have so far? Junkzaban Tournament-buster

Hey gang,
I'm trying to make a gift for a friend Thalia's Crusades. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.
I want the deck to have a longer standard lifetime so I have excluded "Dragons of Tarkir" and "Magic Origins". My friend used to play as mono white and long ago sold his cards when he was hurting for cash.....This deck is mono white and I wonder if Gideon, Ally of Zendikar is really worth the money.
He's a great friend and I don't mind spending money on him however, does it really help the deck at all?
June 6, 2016 10:18 a.m.
So barring speculation about Eldritch Moon and Kaladesh what do you guys think will take over Collected Companys place in standard as everyone's favorite card? or is there not a clear runner-up?
June 6, 2016 5:46 p.m.
GeminiSpartanX says... #43
I 2nd the Dark-Dwellers vote. Card is nuts. That or Eldrazi Displacer.
June 6, 2016 8:03 p.m.
So I made this deck... It's under sixty cards but so far it's been really fun to play. Basically the idea is to throw everything into your graveyard and then benifit off of it using Mindwrack Demon, Despoiler of Souls, Prized Amalgam, and Graveblade Marauder. If you like standard budget brews it would be great if you could give me some feedback. Thanks.
June 6, 2016 9:10 p.m.
@pumpkinwavy I saw your feedback Pumpkin - Thanks a bundle. I tried to change the deck to be less dependant on equipment - costs are a little higher now - more feedback is always welcome
I invite all to check out Thalia's Crusades! I'm trying to piece together a nice thoughtful gift for a friend =D
What are your thoughts on changing: Chitinous Cloak + Stoneforge Masterwork for Expedition Envoy + Stasis Snare ?
June 6, 2016 11:18 p.m.
So how many of you think werewolves will jump to tier one with Eldritch Moon? They're already so close to being competitive, just one or two good cards could push them over the top I think.
June 6, 2016 11:30 p.m.
@Zaueski makes sense - werewolves love the moon right? hmmmm BGR Werewolve Vampire Combo? Yay Underworld!!!
June 6, 2016 11:41 p.m.
Where wolves needs a 1 drop that's great on both sides like hunts master. Maybe haste on human side and 2/2 + menace on the other?
I haven't really looked at them to hard but I think that would help.
