Seems strong. The issue is that there is so much competition for card slots in sideboards that such a card has no place. You'd need something generally good as well as good against that particular deck, and I think something like Krosan Grip or perhaps simply Negate does the trick.

I haven't seen the deck, but if they aren't comboing off the turn they play ascendancy, Abrupt Decay in their end step should do it.

The issue is that they usually combo off the turn they play Ascendancy. Abrupt Decay does the trick... until they find the second of seven copies of the card. Meddling Mage or Nevermore might be an interesting way to go about beating the deck.

Play death and taxes. Thalia, Guardian of Thraben , + Eidolon of Rhetoric , and destroyed their lands with all the ghost quarters is a fun. i believe those type of taxing cards hurt alot.

@GlistenerAgent Copies 7-8? And how doesn't the Extraction stop the Wish?

Thoughtseize Glittering Wish then Surgical Extraction it. Or just extract the Ascendancy.

Not to be that guy, but something like Cryptic Command or Spell Pierce could get the job done. Also, what deck are you playing? This would help narrow down the options.

@GlistenerAgent Sorry, after I posted I looked into the deck a little better and saw what you meant.

Ascendency isn't much different from a storm deck, so the same things people sideboard to handle storm decks should also handle Ascendency. Just sideboard more of the cards mentioned above than before because of it's rising prevalence.

the two i would have suggested are right there. Annul and Erase are what i have my sideboard stacked for that deck. also Eidolon of Rhetoric causes that build some problems.

I've seen Trickbind as a counter to Storm decks, so I don't see why it can't stop Ascendancy Combo.
