Thunderbreak regent and other dragons abit slow in modern? Yeah, 4cmc is considered to be the top of modern's curve. But provide your dragons with lots of disruption in turns 1-3, you'll have it up in no time(probably).

We have 10 hand disruption spells. Yes. 10. We really do want our early game to be safe and under removal's reach so the mighty lizards can come out without worrying of having to block stuffs.

On a more serious note, this deck is a midrange/control deck with dragons as the finisher. I've been playing mardu dragons ever since thunderbreak regent was spoiled and it has been my best performing deck thus far. Hence this list was brewed with the consideration of emulating that very deck with more cost effective spells. Though it was with much regret that a few of our old pals couldn't make the cut for this list from the old standard list. You could say this is a Jund-esque deck.
