As if Assault Formation isn't awesome enough, it starts with "Ass". This makes it a compelling Johnny-build-around. Johnny-Spike more like, based on the card's power level.

Disowned Ancestor / Sidisi's Faithful + Assault Formation = swing 4/4 turn two.

Dragon's Eye Savants + Assault Formation = swing 6/6 turn three.

Am I missing something? Is there a typo on this card? No, it's that good.

Just to lighten the pressure on this wincon, you can land 4/4, 5/5, and 6/6 tokens easily using Kin-Tree Invocation . Bounce their blocker with Sidisi's Faithful , then swing big.

Sultai Charm helps you find your wincons in the off chance you can't make use of its Ultimate Price or Naturalize mode.

Taigam's Scheming digs for Assault Formation while filling your graveyard to cast Murderous Cut on turn 3.

The sideboard should cover you against control, thopters, and Abzan.
