Sideboard


So this is my tweeked jeskai control burn.

Lets start with the big boys.

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon - The ultimate control burn God. He may not be a god like Keranos, God of Storms but come on. +2 for 3 damage every turn if your opponent has no threats, or -x and wipe the board. We wont even talk about the -10 card draw, a new hand why thank you Ugin.

Keranos, God of Storms - The god of burn or draw. He may not be able to do what Ugin, the Spirit Dragon can, however he can win games all on his own if not answered.

Narset Transcendent - This lil lady is one of the best plainswalkers I've seen in a while. Straight to 7 loyalty the turn she comes down is beast for a 4 drop walker. Her +1 is great in our setup giving us an extra card about 40-50% of the time. Her -2 can mean the end of the game by rebounding one of our larger burn spells, or allowing us a free Dig Through Time. The -9 ultimate simply shuts control, and combo decks down, and hinders everything else.

Mantis Rider - great for easy damage, and a target for early removal. Worst case its a 3 drop 3 damage burn, best case we have an annoying flyer that is just as annoying blocking.

Soulfire Grand Master - This lady is the reason we no longer die to aggro. All our spells have lifelink, thus every burn is also a life gain tool. Late game her other ability can bounce back a much needed burn or dig spell.

Now on to the spells.

Dissolve - Gotta keep your opponents board clear. What better way to say no to their spells and scry in the meantime.

Jeskai Charm - Great utility spell. Remove a nuisance we couldn't counter, burn opponent for 4, or give my riders and or dragons +1/+1 and lifelink.

Mindswipe - Counter your opponents stuff and burn nice.

Dig Through Time - We need draws, and this is the best. Allows us to recycle our burn spells to fill our hand.

Lightning Strike - great to kill a creature that snuck in or burn to the face.

Wild Slash - removes pesky 2 toughness creatures (Goblin Rabblemaster) or a much needed 2 damage to the face.

Lightning Strike - removes pesky 3 toughness creatures (flecemain lion) or a much needed 3 damage to the face.

Stoke the Flames - One of the most versitile burn spells. it is removal for anything with a 4 tougness or less, or a whoping 4 to the face.

Anticipate - Because not everyone can wait to Dig Through Time. This mini dig allows us to set up early mana issues or find the early answers to our opponent.

And our enchantments. Because we like shiny things.

Outpost Siege - This allows for much needed card advantage and a possibility of casting multiple burn spells a turn.

Sideboard fun.

Negate - To come in against players who are trying to burn you out, or control matchups.
