Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes
Legendary Planeswalker — Minsc
When this enters and at the beginning of your upkeep, you may create Boo, a legendary 1/1 red Hamster creature token with trample and haste.
+1: Put three +1/+1 counters on up to one target creature with trample or haste.
-2: Sacrifice a creature. When you do, this deals X damage to any target (creature, player, planeswalker or battle), where X is that creature's power. If the sacrificed creature was a Hamster, draw X cards.
This can be your commander.

Yeah, Hansk would be absolutely perfect in the deck. I unfortunately normally play in an ultra-budget pod, so it won't fit there. But if I like the deck as much as I hope to, I'll be putting together a less-budget version to play vs random folks, and it'll have a place in that deck for sure!
Nothing from Avatar caught my eye, but yeah, it'll be super-interesting to see which of your new decks carry on!
I have a good friend who plays Beluna Grandsquall and he'd probably want to decide the "factually best giant" issue on the table! :-D
But I agree, Vivid is going to be very VERY cool. As for Lorwyn, I find myself surprisingly interested in the Jund Precon (decklist, from WotC) ... not so much for upgrading, but just to have a "raw" precon to run when the situation warrants.
Good luck (and good skill!) in 2026!

Lol ... I mean, I'm honestly seriously sorry you hate the Universes Beyond products, but I've been playing since Revised and I couldn't disagree more. But we can maybe try to change each other's minds in some other thread. As for this one, I really just wanted to see what folks were working on :-)
I'm also honestly sorry the Angel deck didn't work out for you/your wife. But yeah, making Raccoons work seems like a REALLY rough time; yikes! If Squirrels ends up falling flat, maybe Otters? Seems like there might be a competitive UR deck somewhere in there. Incidentally, though she wouldn't have been remotely competitive, I spent most of Bloomburrow thinking I should build Alania, Divergent Storm, for her flavor text alone :-D.
There are lots of competitive Artifact decks of course, so leaning into Myr might be an option?
Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes could seriously be an option as well ... I know they look on the surface like a Bracket 1 deck, but I honestly think they could be pushed all the way up into Bracket 4.
Good luck (and good skill) on your quest, and throughout 2026!

Got three games in over the holidays and am definitely going to be making some tweaks. Sharing a few thoughts, just in case they help you ...
Notes on a few cards:
- I've been VERY impressed with Iron Spider, Stark Upgrade (and that's with me running fewer +1/+1 counter effects than you) ... may be worth a look.
- I was originally very high on House Cartographer (and the similar Traveling Botanist), but I've become less impressed over time. Land to hand is certainly decent, but I keep finding it to be not quite ramp and not quite draw ...
- I absolutely love Esika's Chariot in theory. But in practice, folks keep pinging down the Cat tokens + I don't have many other token generators in my deck = it's def performed below my expectations. Not saying it's been bad at all, it's more that my expectations were a little high.
- On the flip side, I wasn't expecting much from Unlicensed Hearse and it's done a TON of work.
- I keep putting them in the deck for testing, and I keep not drawing them. But I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing how Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes and Arlinn Kord Flip work out.
- I started with a relatively low average mana cost for my Vehicles, but I've been steadily raising it ... it's honestly going to look much more like yours after my next update. FWIW, Magmatic Galleon (currently in your maybeboard) is part of that update :-)
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk; hope something in there is helpful. And very sorry for the spam if not!
Cheers!
Kazierts on How Good is Atalan Jackal?
Here's actually something I disagree with wallisface. I don't think Wood Elves is much worse than Cultivate nor is marginally better than Atalan Jackal.
If we're talking about raw ramp, then yes, Cultivate is better because it can also set up future ramp such as Explore and Growth Spiral, but Wood Elves can get nonbasic lands such as Indatha Triome. I'm not saying it's an auto-include if you have nonbasic forest, but it's something I'd consider.
About Atalan Jackal, just look at its EDHrec page. You'll see roughly 4 types of commanders that play it.
- Warhammer commanders - I imagine this is because it comes in the precons.
- Haste commanders - Ognis, the Dragon's Lash, Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes, Deathleaper, Terror Weapon and Samut, Vizier of Naktamun.
- Combat commanders - Anzrag, the Quake-Mole, Mr. Orfeo, the Boulder and General Marhault Elsdragon.
- Very creature focused decks - Animar, Soul of Elements, Nikya of the Old Ways and Ruric Thar, the Unbowed.
These aren't the only commanders that run this card, but the ones that play it the most. They don't run Atalan Jackal because it's good, but because it actually synergises with the overall strategy. It doesn't enable the strategy, it is part of the strategy.

Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes do not show up in playtest v1 in a deck I made. Tried both versions, deleting image cache...etc

Cube somehow got over 450. Strangleroot Geist was the last card. Still need to fit it in. And it's hamster time.

Well the last salty situation I was in was playing someone's Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes deck against them. They had a Miirym, Sentinel Wyrm deck popping off & Terror of the Peaks to boot - those megathreats all got returned to hand by someone else (with onboard haste). Instead of using the draw function I just aggro killed him somewhat early with the hamster... It is funny, sometimes I just acknowledge someone with a "yep"/"killing you is still the plan" & when I just acknowledge, then move on they will almost start to talk themselves into a really convincing argument for why player elimination was the right move. Often enough I get the "I had X & Y waiting in hand" & I just go: "you are not making me feel worse about making sure that didn't happen" :) It is just kindof funny how 80% of these individuals just want to vent some sort of closure & when they've said their piece, usually, you can let their own words sink in. This is an outlier situation as well, I usually just use equal Machiavellian strategy without cutting any deals & usually without needing to offer much rationale & typically it is just an accepted thing.
Abaques on The Great Planeswalker Debate

I think they are getting to be pretty 'meh'. Wizards seem to have learned the lesson from Oko that making them really powerful can be a big mistake. There are some interesting designs still, but they are far less impactful compared to what they used to be. Personally I have a Dihada, Binder of Wills deck and I enjoy the interplay between her +2 and -3 abilities, but it takes a deck built around using that which I think is good. Generically good planeswalkers aren't great for the game usually. I also really like the design of Tasha, the Witch Queen and Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes as well.
I don't think planeswalkers are necessarily a problem in the formats I play (commander and limited) but I don't think it would be super healthy to give them a bunch of new tools either. I'm slightly concerned that the amount of proliferate in All Will Be One could end up being problematic.

Removed: Minsc & Boo, Timeless Heroes, Blades of Velis Vel, and Volatile Claws
Too gimmicky and hard to use, and we really needed to the following cards to make the deck that much more vicious!
Added: Mage Slayer, Rhythm of the Wild, and Stalking Vengeance
