Tozman on converting an old deck into …

Thanks for your advice hungry000 and Funkydiscogod. i will look into Heartless Summoning as well as Aether Vial .

i will chase down a few copies of Neheb, the Worthy he seems quite useful. i also have copies of a bunch of other minotaurs but im not sure if they would be too slow for the format e.g Felhide Spiritbinder , Lord of Shatterskull Pass , Minotaur Aggressor

Would you say that Aether Vial is a commonly used card in the Modern format? because one copy of it is worth more than my whole minotaur deck as it stands so four copies is quite the investment for a budget player like myself. my LGS has them at $56.25 per copy.

Anaba Ancestor seems really bad- it doesnt get any real benefit from your commander because you have to not attack with it to maintain its ability, or its just a 2 mana 1/1. Plus, on board +1/+1 just is not a very powerful effect, even if repeatable.

Similarly, Flurry of Horns seems underwhelming. You have to get up to 5 mana, and then you get two vanilla 2/3s. This is the top end of your curve, and still does very little for you. Anything that is five or more mana should be really powerful. Thus, the cards that I feel are too expensive for their effect are: Flurry of Horns, Master of Cruelties, Warchanter of Mogis, Behold the Beyond (what three cards would you tutor for after spending 7 mana? There really isnt any way to use this to help you win- it can be a lot of value, sure, but youre probably off with either straight up draw or cheaper tutors to get your draw), Minotaur Aggressor, and then replace Plague Wind with In Garruk's Wake, at least. It is almost strictly better.

This deck seems like it could make use of a Whip of Erebos, if only for the life gain. You have a lot of pain effects, and Whip of Erebos is a very powerful artifact with both utility and circumstantial advantage.

A lot of your card draw comes from one time sorceries or Costly Plunder. It feels like this deck could use some more repeatable card draw, like Greed or Erebos, God of the Dead, or even some of the red psuedo draw like Outpost Siege and Chandra, Torch of Defiance. You may also want Phyrexian Arena, but you dont get to choose whether to draw that card. Other good cards for card advantage: Commune with Lava, Oracle's Vault, Stromkirk Occultist, Chandra, Flamecaller (wheel), vance's blasting cannons , Arguel's Blood Fast, Conqueror's Galleon, Ob Nixilis Reignited, Tamiyo's Journal, and The Scorpion God.

Ok I g2g, but looks good! looking forward to playing this!

I playtested against the deck a bit, and it seems a bit slow for an aggro deck. A little inconsistent, too. But that will be fixed as you tune the list. As for suggestions:

Rakdos Cackler is a solid card, so having 4 of it makes a lot of sense. You could also bump up the number of copies of Vexing Devil. A lot of players will just pay the life and be done with it, so it helps you burn them out. Goblin Guide and Monastery Swiftspear are also solid choices for 1-mana creatures (Monastery Swiftspear does need a lot of non-creature spells to work super-effectively, so keep that in mind).

I would also recommend replacing a lot of cards with more mana-efficient versions. Aggro decks generally don't have a lot of cards with more than 3cmc, so those would get cut first (except for Demigod of Revenge. that card is great for this color combo). Cards like Traitorous Instinct, Bloodfray Giant, Firefiend Elemental, Assassin's Strike, Carnival Hellsteed, Chaos Imps, and Minotaur Aggressor are way too expensive (in terms of mana cost) for what they do. You could look at the cards you have, find the effects you want (such as discard, creature removal, etc.), then search for cards that do the same thing but for less mana. That way, your deck makes an impact on the game much sooner.

Then, you could remove a lot of the singles you have in the deck. The more of a particular card you have, the greater the chance of you drawing that card. In your deck, you currently have 4 copies of Rakdos Cackler, which gives you a greater chance of drawing one than you would have of drawing a Temur Battle Rage, for instance. When you're building a deck, you want as many copies as possible of cards that you really want to draw early on and fewer of cards that are either situational or expensive.

Hopefully that helps a bit!

Cut the artifacts. Neither of them do you much good here. Minotaur Aggressor, Minotaur Abomination, and Tenement Crasher are WAYYYY too expensive for this deck.

I would suggest dropping Undead Minotaur, Minotaur Abomination, Minotaur Aggressor for some removal options Hero's Downfall works well. Maybe Sudden Spoiling for cases when combat doesn't go your way. Didgeridoo might also be fun.
