libraryjoy wow your comment is really insightful. It seems your decks are aggro, or very creature based. Probably what I like of black is that creatures aren't often used to win the usual way. For example, I really like wireless damage, as Gempalm Polluter in my zombie control pauper deck (I love tribal too, but as I said I don't like just buff-and-attack) or (working on it since it came out) Malakir Blood-Priest . Oppositely from you, I find joy in wiping MY board; I have an entire deck here on tappedout based on swarming goblin, only to sacrifice them to play Eldrazi.

What I'm saying with all of this is that I love the fact that I found someone with my opposite tastes in mtg strategies =). It's always good to see the other side of the medal.

Also, on a same note, yesterday I forgot to mention that I hate playing against (while I don't dislike the combination itself), because you can make the best, convoluted strategies, but gruul plays 4/4s paying cmc 3, and beats you with that (which is very on guild flavor, "Hulk smash" and all of that). The same problem I have with selesnya applies here. (After all what does Gruul do from my worldview? Play 4/4s and that's it). And while Gruul isn't black enemy combination, I feel its strategy is completely opposite from what black represents. So yeah, could be a player thing.

Ah I see.

You are correct that if the commander's color identity is pure white, then you could only include colorless and white cards. However, Tazri, Beacon of Unity 's color identity is thanks to the appearance of those symbols in her text box.

If you go with Tazri, you might consider picking these up: Coveted Prize , Nimble Trapfinder , Thwart the Grave , Crib Swap (this card has all creature types, so it can be picked up via Tazri's ability!), Nameless Inversion , Linvala, Shield of Sea Gate , Zagras, Thief of Heartbeats , Squad Commander , Oakhame Adversary , Malakir Blood-Priest , Veteran Adventurer , Sygg, River Cutthroat , Nullpriest of Oblivion , Moritte of the Frost , Nin, the Pain Artist

Hey, good budget version of Zagras.

Dagger Caster is another Goblin Chainwhirler effect who's much easier to cast. Chainer, Nightmare Adept and Viscera Seer combine to repeatedly cast Caster or Chainwhirler or other creatures. Seer sacs the creature and then you can cast it again from your graveyard with Chainer. This interaction is also good with Taborax, Hope's Demise and Malakir Blood-Priest for repeatable draw/grow Taborax/each opponent loses life/you gain life each time Priest ETB. Hooded Blightfang is repeatable life loss for each opponent and life gain for you since it triggers for each creature with deathtouch who attacks.

Pain Seer, Oona's Blackguard and Goblin Cratermaker are good budget two drops for party. Seer and Cratermaker can really benefit when having deathtouch. Chaos Warp and Feed the Swarm are ways to remove an opponent's enchantment in Rakdos and Warp can remove any permanent which is very versatile instant removal.

Dark Ritual can help to ramp into a quick Zagras. Command Tower is a staple Rainbow land in Commander for multicolored decks and Path of Ancestry is another Rainbow land that can be repeatable scry when you cast a Rogue or Vampire with it.

These 13 cards can could be added for around $8 at TCGPlayer, see list

Some budget upgrades to consider:

  • Dagger Caster --> Viashino Fangtail
  • Chainer, Nightmare Adept --> Graveshifter
  • Viscera Seer --> Bloodlord of Vaasgoth
  • Malakir Blood-Priest --> Mogg War Marshal
  • Hooded Blightfang --> Judith, the Scourge Diva
  • Pain Seer --> Rushblade Commander
  • Oona's Blackguard --> Blackbloom Rogue
  • Goblin Cratermaker --> Banewhip Punisher
  • Chaos Warp --> Walk the Plank
  • Feed the Swarm --> Price of Fame
  • Dark Ritual --> Forked Bolt
  • Command Tower --> 1x Mountain
  • Path of Ancestry --> 1x Swamp

Good luck with your deck.
