Llanowar Augur

Creature — Elf Shaman

Sacrifice Llanowar Augur: Target creature gets +3/+3 and gains trample until end of turn. Play this ability only during your upkeep.

I added some Llanowar Augurs because it can give Boneyard Wurm trample, but it was also to trigger Caravan Vigil which obviously isn't in the deck anymore; do you think I should just get rid of it? I have 66 cards right now ...

Power boosts that don't cost mana that turn are good- Llanowar Augur will help.

Chameleon Colossus , Feral Animist , Heroes' Bane , Rush of Blood , and Wine of Blood and Iron are all options. Not good options mind you.

I feel as though ancient/once should enable backup shenanigans. Champion of Lambholt / Syr Faren, the Hengehammer / Wild Beastmaster perhaps?

Rancor , Llanowar Augur to give trample to Ghoultree, plus augur would boost Pelt Collector. I've seen Commune with the Gods boost a Tarmogoyf at modern, maybe it could power the Tree out too

Seems like you should be running more forests, since your green creatures need lots of green (mostly 2 each) and Rorix Bladewing and Shivan Meteor come later, when you'll have more time to get those mountains. Additionally, I don't know how much either of those cards are really helping the game plan, since Shivan Meteor is expensive single target removal in a deck that's trying to be aggro, and Rorix Bladewing seems a little late to play. Those cards are awesome, I just don't know how well they work together. Also, the deck's awesome, I really love Llanowar Augur and've never seen it before.

Morning, all.

I've been working with a mono-green Infect deck and I've been pretty pleased with its effectiveness (as compared to a more traditional deck build), but I'd be interested to hear how it might be improved in the eyes of the many knowledgeable players who peruse these boards.

I like going mono-green because it keeps me from running into any mana-fix issues at all. At the moment I'm running Necropede over Blight Mamba for its potential removal benefits. Canopy Cover is really the unexpected gem of this deck - its rare that I have an opponent who's ready to deal with it when it hits the board. I'm currently debating which of Llanowar Augur and Spider Umbra to maindeck and which to sideboard.

I seem to get my opponent to 10 by turn 3 or 4 pretty reliably, but I haven't tried the deck out in any major tournament formats yet.

Any thoughts are welcome - thanks in advance!

Greetings itachi45, High Counsel of Jin-Gitaxias!

In relation to land (2x Breeding Pool / fetches / 4x Inkmoth Nexus / 2x Pendelhaven ), I will be able to acquire them separately, since my monthly investment will not exceed 30 $. I think it's best to buy the 4x Inkmoth Nexus first, am I right?

With the 4x Inkmoth Nexus obtained, should I continue to invest in the lands? If yes, which ones?

I would like, if possible, you would tell me the investment order that I should follow ...

My plan was to replace the Llanowar Augur with Birds of Paradise / Noble Hierarch .

I was also planning to replace Artful Dodge , I'll get Distortion Strike . But what do you think of the "card advantage" provided by Slip Through Space ?

I relinquished Become Imense when I set up the current library, I figured it would work with the fetchlands on the deck, I would also provide them.

I want to attend the FNM of the local store next month, your tips will help a lot.

I take the opportunity to ask, how should we play against Mono Red Burn? Suggest something for the sideboard? What is the strategy to win?

Thanks again!

HashMasta, thanks for the suggestions. I thought of Viridian Longbow, and it's a good suggestion. I'll play around with it. Sparring Collar is an interesting suggestion. I was unaware of this card-- again, a nice suggestion.

I think at the moment, I need to expand the creature base a bit and I need to cut Elvish Herder down to probably 2x, and maybe only 2x or 3x of Llanowar Augur. Playing the deck on MTGO, I seem to get those two cards with some frequency without good targets all the time. I think I want to push to 26 creatures while limiting those two a bit. Not sure I'll have space for either of your suggestions, but maybe I'll try splitting the Rancors with Viridian Longbow (i.e., maybe 2x of each?) and see how that goes. Could be pretty good.

Thanks for the suggestions and the upvote!

Entomo Thanks for the great feedback. I like you're idea of adding in Llanowar Augur and Lotus Petal, and agree a few more creatures would be helpful. What would you think of replacing the Unnatural Predation with 2 Lotus petals and 2 Blight Mambas and Seal of Strength with Augur?

Pabs4444 I honestly forgot about a sideboard, what exactly would you recommend? My main concern is probably my Glistener Elf or Ichorclaw Myr getting killed before I can attack with them or my opponent getting a good blocker out turn 1/2. Any advice on how to prevent this? Thanks!
