So a bunch of my local group of friends are all wanting to form budget edh decks the budget hasn't been discussed so much yet, but I believe it will be somewhere around $50. Since it is going to be such a casual edh experience I think I want to make Dakkon Blackblade as my commander since he is a character that I love in the the lore of Magic the Gathering.
I'm imagining some sort of Voltron strategy would be best for him, but I'd be up to hear other people's suggestions for the deck and what would work well while being with in the budget with cards that would be reasonably priced at about $2 or preferably less.
Here is some stuff I've found so far.
Card draw Read the Bones , Ancient Craving , Ambition's Cost , Rush of Knowledge
Utility Key to the City , Druidic Satchel
Spells Blustersquall , Sleep , Aether Gale
Enchants + Voltron Mirror Mockery Will mostly be for defense since putting it on Dakkon won't do anything. Vanishing , Flickerform , Inquisitor's Flail , Fireshrieker , Blackblade Reforged
Rocks Star Compass , Guardian Idol

Without green the ability to land ramp isn't going to be top notch, but you should certainly consider things like flip cards ( Search for Azcanta Flip, Profane Procession Flip, Thaumatic Compass Flip), land tutors ( Wayfarer's Bauble , Expedition Map ), and miscellaneous land rampers ( Walking Atlas , Sword of the Animist ) as ways to help buff up your commander and make what the deck wants to do more consistent. A number of choices in this vein are very likely to fit your budget constraints.
