1.
Turn 1 plays: Either a
Thraben Inspector
which nets you an extra card in the long run, or a Card:Harsh Scrutiny. Because of the environment, almost everyone plays decks with creatures and this card will then never miss and a scry is nice. If you have a bad hand,
Necrogen Spellbomb
is also okay.
2.
Oh-so-important two-drops: First the ETB triggers.
Inquisitor Exarch
can have quite the impact if you play two or three and later reanimate them,
Lone Missionary
makes you able to ignore a few attacks if you don't want to block and both of these can trade pretty nicely.
Dusk Legion Zealot
is free fuel. This is supported by
Zulaport Cutthroat
and
Bloodthrone Vampire
; ideally you attack with the vampire, sacrifice a ton of creatures which steals some life and then smash the opponent with a huge
Bloodthrone Vampire
. I'd love to use a
Rite of Consumption
, but that costs a bit too much. A special one,
Leonin Squire
should return some spellbombs, which you can either cycle or use to make your opponent discard. All in all, ideally, it should help fuel the deck because once again,
Wall of Omens
didn't see many reprints and so it costs more than I expected and I can't use it then.
3.
Noncreature spells: First there is a bit of removal in the form of
Doom Blade
and
Orzhov Charm
which can blink in an Inspector in case you need to block a hasty attacker (and again,
Thraben Inspector
's trigger will eventually replace the Charm).
Rally the Ancestors
for obvious reasons, only two pieces because price, ideally I'd like to have 3 in. Finally, a
Sunlance
which makes the deck more diverse and in case you need to kill a black creature and don't want to spend life on
Orzhov Charm
. Then there is a
Phyrexian Rebirth
, a very Timmy-like card. We have a kind of cult following of wrath effects which everyone considers cool and good, and this one even gives you a huge creature which has to be dealt with, otherwise it'll end the game. Not very effective, but I think they'll like it. Oh, and,
Militia Bugler
costs 3 and would require you to pay an additional
for Rally, but it's a body which lets us put virtually any creature from the top few cards into our hand.
4.
The (hopefully) big boy:
Seraph of the Masses
is another way to use the creatures recurred via
Rally the Ancestors
(more in the upper section) with the bonus of being a flyer. Since Rally is an instant, you can use it when your Seraph isn't blocked, massively buff it, enjoy the ETB effects and then either say goodbye to the creatures when they go back to the grave or to the opponent, if you had a graveyard big enough.
