The main idea I was going for is a somewhat competitive Rakdos modern deck, with a wincon involving donations. Started originally as a joke deck, after several games I started to see potential and eventually made it into what it is today.

As a quick disclaimer, this was really my first delve into black modern. I don't play very much black and because of it I was unsure of what was actually "good" or not. If anyone reading this thinks they know a card that would be a good addition or replacement please comment it, as I would love to make this as fun and competitive as I can.

The following is my reasoning for why I am running each card I have picked, as well as the decks win cons and combos:

Creature - Show

- 4x Abyssal Persecutor: This is the decks main damage dealer, as a 6/6 flying, trample as early as turn 3 it can be painful to the opponent. Get the opponents life to 0 or less then kill Abyssal Persecutor with Go for the Throat or Terminate, alternatively you can donate Abyssal Persecutor with Bazaar Trader or Harmless Offering preventing you from losing until the opponent can remove it themselves.

- 4x Bazaar Trader: This is the decks main donation source able to give away 77% of the decks mainboard, however you will mostly only want to use it to give the opponent Abyssal Persecutor or Immortal Coil. As a creature Bazaar Trader can also come in handy as a chump blocker if needed.

- 2x Death's Shadow: Is a little bit of an off card in the deck, however it works well enough to keep its place. As you don't normally worry about your life total too much you are usually in a position to play Death's Shadow to slow down, or stop an opponents attacks on you. As well as if you pull off a donation with Abyssal Persecutor and your own life total is in the negatives you can get the full value of a 1 drop 13/13 to fight back with.

- 2x Will-o'-the-Wisp: This is also a little bit of a oddball card as I personally have never seen it played in another modern deck. however it will be your primary blocker, and if you pull off a donation with Abyssal Persecutor it allows you to constantly block without worrying about killing the Abyssal Persecutor.

Artifact - Show

- 3x Immortal Coil: This is one of the decks primary win cons, donate Immortal Coil with Bazaar Trader or Harmless Offering, then exile the opponents graveyard with Relic of Progenitus or Tormod's Crypt. Also if you are in a tight situation the card draw Immortal Coil provides is nice to have albeit a little risky.

- 2x Lich's Mirror: This is mostly here as as survival piece for stalling out a loss, or staying in the game if you don't draw into a Harmless Offering to get rid of a Demonic Pact. It is also just really fun to play.

- 2x Lotus Bloom: Mainly just here for the ramp it gives, as it makes 3 mana you can use it to cast Harmless Offering even if your lands are all tapped out.

- 2x Mind Stone: A surprisingly good ramp card to help get out a Immortal Coil, Abyssal Persecutor or a Demonic Pact as early as a turn 3. And with its second ability after you reach this decks golden point of 4 lands, or you are in need of top deck you can always just sac it for draw.

- 2x Relic of Progenitus: Graveyard hate is always good, but this is here to be used in combo with Immortal Coil after it is donated to the opponent to get a win. Also the draw can help in a pinch.

- 2x Tormod's Crypt: Mostly the same as Relic of Progenitus however it is free! and you can play it and sac it to Exile the opponents graveyard, then play Immortal Coil as Tormod's Crypt will be in your graveyard preventing you from losing if you have nothing else there.

Instant - Show

- 2x Go for the Throat: Simple kill, that does not need red mana if you have bad luck with land draws. Main use is to kill Abyssal Persecutor after opponents is at 0 or less life. But can always be used to mess up the opponent bored if you can donate the Abyssal Persecutor instead.

- 2x Terminate: Same use as Go for the Throat, just less specific and a little better effect.

Sorcery - Show

- 2x Harmless Offering: This is here just as another option of donation in the deck specifically if Bazaar Trader are no longer an option, Harmless Offering is also the only way to donate Demonic Pact.

- 4x Inquisition of Kozilek: Great and needed for at least some modicum of interaction early game as you try and set up a combo. Being able to remove your opponents counterspells or removal that they would play to disrupt your own win cons is priceless in this deck. That being said, I am too cheap to buy Thoughtseize despite the fact they would work better.

Enchantment - Show

- 2x Demonic Pact: A very interesting card that pulls more weight than you think it would, however it is also the highest likelihood of making you kill yourself. Play and use it for 3 turns reaping the benefits of the first 3 abilities, before donating it with Harmless Offering and forcing the opponent to lose the game. Other ways to survive if you don't have the Harmless Offering is to donate an Abyssal Persecutor preventing you from losing the game, or have a Lich's Mirror in the field to get a nice clean start.

- 2x Phyrexian Arena: Very self explanatory, this is a combo deck, but I am too cheap to run tutors and so I make up for it with draw. This works great, and pares well with the Death's Shadow, no other comment to say besides its just a good addition in this deck.

Sideboard - Show

(This is where I feel most people will differ in there opinion of why i am running some cards instead of others, and that is because of 2 reasons. First this deck already went way over budget and so i had to make a lot of compromises in the sideboard. And second is because this is designed for my play group and what I am up against specifically.)

- 1x Terminate: This is here as I am always bouncing between running 2x Immortal Coil and 3x Terminate or keeping it the way it is now. by having one in the sideboard, I can interchange it on the fly but if you choose to make this deck I recommend replacing this spot in the sideboard with something more useful.

- 2x Illness in the Ranks: Simple and a low drop to kill off 1/1 tokens what more would you want?

- 2x Stab Wound: This is the single card that has been in and out of the deck more than any other, I love it as a kill on low toughness creatures, or to cripple big ones whilst getting a shock of damage a turn, but at the same time i don't end up using them enough personally and they end up being a dead card in hand more then i would have liked.

- 2x Surgical Extraction: Simple card, with a game winning effect when used with Inquisition of Kozilek. However due to this decks graveyard hate it is not worth running more then 2 I find.

- 3x Vandalblast: This is my all time favorite artifact hate card. Love it, keep it, and use it!

- 3x Guttural Response: In my mind the wording is just "Counter Target Counterspell". I play against a lot of blue control and this card has pulled me a win more times then I can count.

- 2x Victim of Night: Same reason I run the Vandalblast, artifacts are everywhere! If the Go for the Throat in the mainboard are not able to be used, switch them out for these.
