Billy Witch Doctor is back and if Mega Ultra Chicken wasn't enough, this time he's trying to resurrect Craterhoof Behemoth !

I started building this deck using the Frites method to generate tokens and reanimate Craterhoof Behemoth for the big stompy kill. Since then it has been updated for RtR with inspiration from current competitive Standard Reanimator decks.
Suggestions and +1s welcome. :)
It's geared more toward trampling over with a bunch of gigantic tokens. Griselbrand seemed a nice choice for if I board in anything, allowing me to draw outright.
Then you would want more than 2 sources for token production. Maybe Armada Wurm would be a good fit.
Perhaps, but I should be swinging for the kill turn 5-7 unless someone clears the board. Huntmaster and Lingering Souls put tokens out turn 2-4, which is when I want them.
+1 because this deck is obviously #1 in the hood, G. No suggestions, but I'm liking the idea!
Since I play a lot of casual multiplayer it's fun when people see the tokens with no buffs, think nothing of it, then get whacked for lethal damage a couple turns later.
I have no clue what would come out but Thragtusk would be pulling double duty here.
Gains you life to keep you in longer and gets you a token which is great.
It doesn't give you two bodies at once that's true but it does provide MUCH more lifegain.
I can see where you are coming from though. Huntmaster is a very good card.
Think I'd like to see -4 Huntmasters and +4 pilgrims.Gets you there faster and also provides more bodies for the craterhoof.You want to be unburying at 4 mana, not casting a huntmaster.
Huntmaster provides 2 bodies for 1 card and 2 life. Sure if I can pull off Pilgrim, Lingering Souls , flashback, dump the Behemoth and reanimate in 4 turns it's lethal damage. But what else is going to give me that small swarm of creatures if I don't pull or dump Lingering Souls ?
4x pilgrim, 3x deathrite, 4x lingering. Thats plenty of bodies. Dig dig and more dig, then flashback lingering souls. If you have the mana you throw out a centaur healer. Then the craterhoof. I think the huntmaster is clogging a turn that could be more active. Don't get me wrong, huntmaster is amazing, I just don't think it fits there.
I'm not denying card:Avacyn's Pilgrim being a good card, but given comparison to Huntmaster I have to look at it this way...
card:Avacyn's Pilgrim - 1 creature. Adds W to my mana pool. Dies to everything.
Huntmaster of the Fells Flip - 2 creatures, 2 life. Chump blocks two 1/1s all day long. Sometimes flips, sometimes doesn't. Survives Golgari Charm , Electrickery , etc. Provides a faster recovery from a board wipe.
Sure I love the opportunity for a 4th turn Craterhoof stompy death, but the truth is that more often than not it's just wishful thinking. I feel that Huntmaster stabilizes my board more in games that are going to run past turn 5.
Wow! You run card:Slayers' Stronghold! Good choice, it gives your reanimation targets haste so they don't sit there waiting for removal. I dig the use of Huntmaster of the Fells Flip . He gives you a ton of value and can give you good board advantage.
Thanks! I'd been looking to find room for at least 1 card:Slayers' Stronghold. Still means I need 7 lands to flashback Rites and give something haste, but with Griselbrand the 9 damage puts me ahead of the curve.
I haven't really thought about it. Would give me more options to discard. Right now I don't seem to have too much trouble getting Faithless Looting in my graveyard if I'm not dumping extra copies of what's in my hand to begin with.
what about an evelving wilds for a restoration angel? persay?
i run this color option of the deck ( as do many other players) and this is what i use as my main board for creatures
not to many mana dorks to keep the bonfires out from the board, but enough to get you the ramp that you need when u need it ( keep it real, all u need is one so that u can turn 1 mana, mana dork, turn 2 Lingering Souls turn 3 Grisly Salvage / Mulch and turn 4 resurect your behemoth (or other fatty)
i know that youre trying to get the overrun swarm on the guy, but when it boils down to it, thragtusk wins more games then the huntmaster will, just because people dont generally want to kill thragtusk, hunmaster is way to easy to kill and not feel like u waste a spell taking out one dude, and that is why thrag is a better fit in a deck like this. ( and not to mention the reason he is a $25 card)
then trade out griselbrand, swinging out the mana weight to your lands.
I originally had Restoration Angel in the deck but outside of maybe extra lifegain it doesn't do a whole lot for me, so I replaced it with Angel of Serenity . Sure I could also blink Craterhoof Behemoth but that'd be unnecessary overkill.
As for Griselbrand , if he comes out and doesn't die quickly he puts this deck into overdrive.
I know Thragtusk is the greatest thing since sliced bread but I haven't had any real issues with Huntmaster. Given my schedule right now my playing time consists of about 95% casual multiplayer/5% competitive play. So for most purposes I find having 2 bodies is better than 1.
I like card:Jarad's Orders but normally my digging is done in the first few turns. With 4 mana open I'd rather be casting something else.
