This deck is a kind of midrange/combo deck with control elements. It's designed to be somewhat grindy and resilient, using lots of synergies to overwhelm the opponent with threats. I was working on this deck when Gatecrash came out and then once The Aristocrats won the Pro Tour I drew a lot of ideas from it. This deck is pretty different from that one, though, since it puts a lot of emphasis on Blood Artist shenanigans. There are a lot of cards that "could be good" here, so if you have any ideas let me know.
Synergies/Combos
Boros Reckoner
+ Blasphemous Act - You pretty much win if you pull this off. It makes the very presence of Boros Reckoner a threat.
Boros Reckoner
+
High Priest of Penance
- Forces your opponent to make bad decisions. Good against aggro decks since you can slow them down quite a bit.
High Priest of Penance
+ Blasphemous Act - Wrath the board and get rid of troublesome artifacts/enchantments at the same time.
Immortal Servitude +
Cartel Aristocrat
/Falkenrath Aristocrat + Blood Artist - Sac all your two-drop guys and grind life off of Blood Artist, then get them all back again.
Blasphemous Act + Aristocrats - Wipe the board except for your aristocrats, then swing against an open opponent. Note you can cast Blasphemous Act at a low cost and sacrifice creatures in response. You can combine this with the above for even more profit!
Other Cards
Tragic Slip
- It's pretty easy to pull off a morbid trigger here, so it's good against opposing Falkenrath Aristocrats and
Boros Reckoner
s. The mana cost is relevant, since this deck is already dense with 2-drops.
Lingering Souls - This card is great for the obvious reasons, but it can also help fuel Blasphemous Act.
Sorin, Lord of Innistrad - Seems awesome in certain matchups. His tokens can fuel Blasphemous Act as well as keep the pressure on after casting one. They also trigger Mentor of the Meek. The emblem is pretty good with all the little 2-drops flying around.
Other Options
Duress - Seems incredibly important in the control matchup.
Boros Charm - Gives you one-sided wraths with Blasphemous Act, but the other modes don't seem super relevant.
Bonfire of the Damned - Speaking of one-sided wraths... this card seems great but also pretty meta-dependent.
Olivia Voldaren - Combos with
High Priest of Penance
and Blood Artist in addition to being a good card all around, but might be too slow.
