Better than Ever

Loyalty, 8 years ago

The deck has undergone extremely heavy changes but now it's better than ever. With new formatting, a new name, and new spells added; A Snapcaster's Fury is ready for a whole new life and I can't wait to take it to FNM.

Have removed Spiteful Blow and replaced it with the cheaper Hero's Downfall. Also from recommendations have focused on Bloodcrazed Hoplite and lost some of the single cards (although I'm aware there is still a lot of work). Enjoying the new additions of King Macar, the Gold-Cursed and Pharika, God of Affliction so may add more of those, especially for the additional death touch tokens.

Thank you for all the advise and help so far.

Sideboard update

BenMonte, 8 years ago

Tossed in two Golgari Charm, and 4 Essence Warden to help against burn matchups.

Also added a Corpsejack Menace to the mainboard for extra counter love. It gets silly once Hardened Scales is on the table.

MAJOR CHANGES

Counterbalance5818, 8 years ago

Went deep with the changes and made it a very controlling deck. Like along the lines of Abzan control, but with the processor mechanic. It functions the same, but with the addition of Dromoka's Command in the main, we get so much more utility in the early game. Plus, it function very well with Shambling Vents. Anyways, hope you all enjoy the deck!

Update

Lifa, 8 years ago

I changed the deck list around a lot. Mainly included a lot of mana rocks. I'm debating on whether or no the new Jace is worth in this deck for his ultimate and for his usefulness. Any suggestions?

1.0 - Assembling

MrHighscore, 8 years ago

Based on community feedback (thank you Ender666666, zyphermage, and daniel.goldberg.98 ) I have updated my inital draft, and I am now ordering the cards I'm missing. Next up will be many rounds of playtesting. I am very optimistic about this build, and think that is has the potential to deprecate my original Oloro build Orio Oloro Overweight - aka Fatboy Slim.

Currently the only thing that is bothering me about the list is that there are some good Rest in Peace combos, but that cards shuts down Bloodchief Ascension, and I will need to exile my own Rest in Peace to turn on Bloodchief Ascension (asuming that I don't have Greater Auramancy out). Thats just not right, but on the other hand Bloodchief Ascension is really good.

For style It would be nice to find a way to abuse Tainted Remedy (disregarding Beacon of Immortality that is not an enchantment and has way too high CMC).

I'm open to suggestions :)

Resetting discussion.

FNM

Round 1 (VS Naya Allies): 1-2 I should start by stating that this person eventually went 3-0 for the night. In any case, I am fine with this being a match loss given how aggressive the deck was. Game 1 was just overloading my field as I was getting used to the pace of my deck while Games 2 and 3 was each side getting mana-screwed respectively. Nothing that much of note (except how effective I found out Serpentine Spike to be, that is.) Round 2 (VS WB Lifegain): 2-1 Really hard-fought victory here. Games 1 and 3 both got down to top-decking, and although the first case worked against my favor, winning game 3 was such a relief in the end. Round 3 (VS WU Fliers): 2-1 The final round was against my friend who had also come for the draft because he heard I was coming. As we sat down, I joked that the rival music from ORAS should be playing (since we both are also into Pokemon.) Ultimately, games 1 and 2 were relatively straight-forward. However, the last game...was the best ending I could have asked for to the night. After three triggers of Nettle Drone and a few aggressive attacks, he was unable to keep up and I was able to seize victory.

Muddle the mixture

Matrixxx999, 8 years ago

Replaced: + Muddle the Mixture, - Flusterstorm

Trying to find a place for Muddle, this card can search for other key cards (Demonic, Diabolic, Exsanguinate, Bitterblossom, Flash, Cyclonic Rift, Phantasmal image, Lim dul) and it is counterspell by itself.

Considering a splash of red

ANVCRIntern, 8 years ago

Quick Update. Looking at splashing Red specifically for Crackling Doom and Butcher of the Horde. Playing around with something else at the moment. I'm thinking Dark Deal can go 100%, and Drana, Liberator of Malakir can be what goes as well...

maybe...

not sure...

Modern night 12/10/15 2nd place 2-1

demonicgrizzly, 8 years ago

I was the only mono green deck there in a sea of tier one.

Round one - blue red something or other 2-0

This guy was odd -his deck didn't really do anything at all. It was some kind of burn control thing..very awkward. Took both games very easily.

Round 2 - jeskai control 0-2

Game one was incredibly close. I got him down to 2 life befire he burned me out. Game two he sided in Keranos, God of Storms and Spellskite and lots of removal, and i didn't really stand much of a chance. My sideboard didn't help much, and I didn't hit a single boarded card.

Round 3 - red white burn 2-1

This was a lot of fun. He had fistfuls of bolts, helixes, charms, and spikes. Game one I was able to race him. Game two I sided in all my feed the clan, and he won the race with a Eidolon of the Great Revel. Game three, I hit two Feed the Clan for 10 life twice, and he ran out of steam. The match lasted maybe 8 minutes.

All in all it was a good night. Nobody expected my deck, and there was even a writer for gathering magic there. It was a good time. Didn't pull anything good from my packs though.

Oops.

This deck is actually very good in a vacuum. I have made a terrible mistake.

Second at FNM once again.

Jhowe217, 8 years ago

Went 2-1 once again at my local FNM. Match 1 Vs. Esper Control (2-1) This was the "no win condition" balls to the wall esper control deck. He played silumgar, the drifting death as his only creature. Lucky for him, that card is devastating against my deck. He got there game one. I sided in all control cards and with a little help from incredible top decks I was able to out value him the next 2 rounds. Match 2 Vs. Esper Dragons (1-2) This is the 5 color dragons from last week. It was reworked and focused into a force to be reckoned with. He splashed red for storms fury and used the drifting death as well, which once again shut my tokens down. Kolaghan finished me off games 1 and 2. Match 3 Vs. R/U devoid (2-0) Not a bad little deck, he just got mana screwed match 1 then flooded match 2. I can't say much about his deck, he never got a good chance to battle me with it. I asked how much land he was running and 24 seemed right. That's magic though. After tie breakers I ended in second place, so that's nothing to complain about.
