Havengul Lich"Fusing intelligence with the power of undeath requires inspiration of the darkest kind."

Havengul Lich is a creature that is just asking to be broken. Being able to recast any of my dead creatures seems like a great ability to build around, especially if the creatures I am "reanimating" have awesome enter the battlefield abilities. With this idea behind my brew, let's begin with the combo behind the deck, and the creatures I want to reanimate:

Combo Creatures:

Havengul Lich - The namesake of the deck will allow me to replay creatures from the graveyard. It's a little expensive, but if I get to untap with it, it's going to be difficult for my opponent to win.

Prophet of Kruphix - Being able to untap all of my lands and creatures every untap phase is fantastic. It allows me to replay creatures on my turn, as well as my opponent's turn. Flash is already on a couple of my creatures, but giving them all Flash allows me to react to anything, at any time.

Viscera Seer - I need to be sure that I can put my creatures back into the graveyard, and sacrificing them for free is the best way. It will allow me to Scry for more answers, and also allows me to save my creatures from exile effects (i.e. Path to Exile).

The Utility Creatures:

Sakura-Tribe Elder - This creature is strong in its own, but being able to use the same one over and over again will not only help me thin out my deck, but it will also allow me to increase the amount of mana I have access to throughout the game.

Coiling Oracle - Along the same lines as Sakura-Tribe Elder, this creature has the ability to increase the number of lands I have access to. It will primarily be a means of drawing additional cards, since the majority of cards in my deck are obviously not lands.

Creatures to Disrupt My Opponent:

Sidisi's Faithful - A self-sacrificing creature that can bounce one of my opponent's creatures. With enough mana, I will be able to use this multiple times in a single turn, making it difficult for the opponent to keep any of his creatures in play.

Ambush Viper - This strange little snake can surprise opponents, especially if I only have and available. They won't suspect that their attacking creature will die to anything with these colors, so flashing in a creature with Deathtouch is a very cool play. I can also use Havengul Lich to "reanimate" this on my opponent's turn, flashing it in from the graveyard.

Winged Coatl - Identical to Ambush Viper, except if can block flyers.

Reclamation Sage - A main-deck Reclamation Sage may seem weird, but being able to handle any non-land permanent that my opponent may play will help my chances. There are Enchantments and Artifacts in almost every deck, so there is a great chance that there is a target for this creature.

Mystic Snake - A Counterspell on a creature is great, and this creature has the potential to give me a soft lock on my opponent if I can keep sacrificing it and they are top-decking.

Other Spells:

Serum Visions - If a player is playing blue, that player is almost certainly playing Serum Visions. Being able to draw a card and potentially fix my next two draws is incredible for just .

Remand - Sometimes I just need to stall my opponent for the first couple of turns, and nothing is more efficient than Remand. My opponent uses their mana, doesn't get the spell they want that turn, and I draw a card. Can't argue with that.

Sideboard:

Black Cat - Another strange addition, but if I can replay this multiple times each turn, my opponent won't have a hand to use at all, which will be great against combo and control decks.

Merciless Executioner - This is my primary defense against Boggles decks, but is also great against midrange decks that don't play multiple creatures each turn.

Minister of Pain - The anti-tokens and anti-aggro creature. There are quite a few copies of Lingering Souls in decks at my LGS, so this will be clutch against them. This will also help against the Blood Artist/Zulaport Cutthroat decks that also pop their heads up there.

Negate - Simply efficient counter against combo and control decks, and may seem some use against Burn.

Summary:

I believe this deck will be a blast to play, and may turn a few heads. By no means am I considering this deck to be a Tier 1 deck, but it could do well. Nobody will expect it, and it will be hard to deal with. If you want to throw this deck together and take to an FNM, let me know how you do.
