Sideboard

Maybeboard

Enchantment (1)

This is my Green/White or Selesnya Deck. Most of this deck was built by a friend, Josh, who traded or borrowed some of the Green and White Rares and Mythic Rares I pulled throughout the Return to Ravnica Block.

Like the Boros Loyalty Deck, it never had a Sideboard. I've found some pretty solid cards in the recent weeks I think would be excellent swap outs. I'm going to test the reliability, so it may be subject to change.

-Creatures-

  1. Alert Heedbonder is 3-drop, 2 of which are split mana of either Forest or Plain. For this you'll get a 2/4 with Vigilance that grants +1 Life for each creature that has Vigilance; a bonus that triggers during your end step. This works incredibly well with the creatures that have natural vigilance and any tokens improved by Intangible Virtue.

  2. Botanical Brawler is a 2-drop, 1 Forest and 1 Plain. It's a creature without base P/T, but instead receives 2 +1/+1 counters as it enters the battlefield and acquires more as your other creatures do. But only if it's the first time the other creature receives a +1/+1 during the current turn. This creature card is probably one of the more strategic plays, especially for early game. You'll want to keep them protected in order to buff them up and let them loose.

  3. Conclave Cavalier is a 4/4 for 2 Forest and 2 Plain. So cuts pretty even for the summoning cost. However, if it dies it spawns 2 G/W 2/2 Elf Knight tokens. Insane. So, like some other cards here, even if it's killed you won't be left too damaged. I worry that Sigil Captain is too situational for its benefit with 1/1 Bird Tokens. It's quite possible that Conclave Cavalier could outright replace both Captains for the deck or you could try one of each.

  4. Conclave Mentor is a 2/2 for 2, one of each Selesnya color. When a source would add +1/+1 counters to a creature you control, you can add an additional +1/+1 counter. I think this creature would work well with the deck, but pair specifically well with Sigil Captain instead of being what would replace it. It could also help with Botanical Brawler, if you've included it among your available creatures.

-Instants-

  1. Pledge of Unity is a 3-drop that gives all your creatures a +1/+1 counter and you gain 1 life for each creature you control. If you're looking for a different option from temporary bonuses, this could take the place of cards like Seeds of Strength, Heroes' Reunion, and Soul's Grace. As you're reading this sideboard, both Botanical Brawler and Conclave Mentor would synergize well with Pledge of Unity's inclusion. It really depends on your playstyle.

  2. Awakening of Vitu-Ghazi almost feels like a green version of M14's Awaken the Ancient, with a couple of differences. P/T is determined by +1/+1 counters, of which there are 9. It also counts as a Legendary creature. A really interesting card here. Not too expensive mana-wise, it could actually work to replace Risen Sanctuary. You could even get it out 2 turns sooner if you have no trouble with lands. Of course, you'll have to weigh the haste of the former against the vigilance of the latter. This could have a huge impact on survivability/usefulness. On its own it's going to be a hard hitter, but paired with Crowned Ceratok could be a huge play. Remember: This creature will be both nontoken and Legendary, so it cannot be the target of any "populate" spell. Keep that in mind if it changes how you view its viability.

-Sorceries-

  1. A fourth copy of Call of the Conclave could replace one of the life gain spells. It really depends on which mechanic you want the deck to feature more.

-Enchantments-

  1. Always Watching is essentially Intangible Virtue, but for nontoken creatures. It's 1 Plain more for casting though. If you want to focus on having an enchantment that strengthens your main creatures, since there's already a lot that helps your tokens, you could always take out the extra Virtue in exchange for this. I'll be needing to pick one up.

  2. Collective Blessing is a 6-drop enchantment that gives +3/+3 for all creatures under your control. It's pricey, I know. But for some creatures in this deck, it would double their P/T. Even still, you may want to use something else that's more mechanically valuable and even turn-viable, let alone overall cheaper.

  3. Primeval Bounty is another 6-drop, but only 1 mana is required to be a Forest. Pretty flexible. This card gives you 3 different bonuses upon certain conditions. Firstly, a 3/3 Beast token any time you cast a creature spell. Second, any time you cast a noncreature spell the enchantment allows you to put 3 +1/+1 counters on a single target creature. Third, a landfall-esque perk that gives you +3 Life Gain for any time a land enters the battlefield under your control.

-Artifacts-

  1. Elixir of Immortality is a handy artifact. By now, you should know it's one of my go-to's. I like having one within reach in case you're facing multiple opponents or if you think you'll need the +5 Life and graveyard recycle.
