So I was looking through some old unappreciated rares in standard when I stumbled upon Captain of the Mists. Its ability is pretty cool, but its kinda slow and unrewarding on its own. I was curious to see if I could make a decent deck around him, so here's what I came up with.

First off, you need a way to produce plenty of creatures per turn. For this, we're gonna use Thraben Doomsayer, Precinct Captain, and any humans you can draw up. The Mist's ability works well with Thraben Doomsayer too because you can keep untapping the doomsayer with the captain's ability, so you can keep producing creatures as long as you can pay for Captain of the Mist's ability.

But this alone isn't enough to give this deck any power, so here's where we get to what makes this deck cool. Lightning Prowess on a Captain of the Mists turns him into a Gelectrode that untaps with humans instead of instants or sorceries. Using this plus Izzet Staticaster is surprsingly powerful and excellent against most aggro decks, especially if you control an Illusionist's Bracers or a creature encoded with Hidden Strings. You can use hidden strings to untap all sorts of fun stuff to make yourself more powerful. If an opponent uses Slaughter Games or Detention Sphere, an alternate win con is a gigantic Champion of the Parish to go to town with.

The biggest problem with the deck is that it's pretty slow, but once it gets going its pretty difficult to deal with. If you guys could give me some advice as to how to speed up the deck, it wohld be greatly appreciated.
