Miracle Gro *Primer*

Modern

Sideboard

This deck was originally built 2001. Soon after making an appearance it became the deck to beat. Once Deeproot Champion came out, I knew Miracle Grow just might have a chance.

Now the Primer:

Quirion Dryad: The piece that made this deck work, it grows extremely large for the cost of a non-green colored spell.

Swan Song: Hard counter for 1. Gives em' a chump, but that won't last...

Deeproot Champion: This is a pseudo QD. It grows for essentially the same price and will be a threat.

Dive Down: Super protection for one, and gives a buff to the creatures. Good card.

Commandeer: Because nothing is more satisfactory then stealing a planeswalker. (On a side note, it's the closest thing we have to Force of Will. Only have two because that's a lot of card advantage loss.)

Trade Routes: Get extra lands out of the way, very nice one of.

Spell Pierce: This is a one mana tax 2, grow a QD. I like this a lot.

Logic Knot: This is the modern version of Counterspell, cheap, but only a 2 of, since our mana is risky sometimes.

Stubborn Denial: This can outright counter any noncreature spell for 1, or tax them one. Sometimes it's the same.

Turn Aside: Counter a kill spell for one, well worth the mana.

Blossoming Defense: Protect your creature for a turn, and +2 +2. Solid one drop.

Serum Visions: Dig three, best imitator of Ancestral Recall for modern. (Wow, just looking at that price tag makes me dizzy)

Opt: opt on opponent's upkeep and draw a Temporal Mastery! Dig 2, but a better immediate advantage. Pretty good 4 of.

Sleight of Hand: more draws to smooth the land and buff the Dryad.

16 Lands: For tempo! This deck has the most consistent draws of any modern deck, and will draw more counters then opponents will draw kills.

Sideboard:

Delver of Secrets  : Delver adds a body for heavy control machups like Jund.

Ceremonious Rejection: Counter a Ravager, Wurmcoil, or Lantern? I think that this nasty piece of (one mana!) countermagic pulls it's wait.

Commandeer: Again! For those nasty planeswalker decks.

Echoing Truth: Generic hate on reanimator/tokens. Mainly a catch all though.

Flashfreeze: I think that this counters such a wide variety of decks, it's worth it easily.

Jace's Defeat: Notably defeats Jace. Jokes aside, it is another color hoser for the side. The idea is to get better against decks after sideboarding, is it not?

Memory's Journey: GY hate for the side, thinking about Relic. For now, to QD triggers is great.

Nature's Claim: Artifact/Enchantment destruction for 1! Cast lots!
