Dat Junk

Modern

Yugornot

Sideboard

This is my take on a modern Junk deck. So far it kicks some ass. Suggestions on better cards I could use or if the deck could be improved in any way are appreciated. Below is the breakdown of the cards.

THE DISCARD:

Liliana of the Veil- Pretty darn effective in keeping the pressure on your opponents both early and late game

Inquisition of Kozilek- For one mana I can get rid of almost anything in my opponent's hand.

Thoughtseize- Same as above but more versatile and at a cost

THE REMOVAL:

Liliana of the Veil- Again, this girl is awesome. You have that enormous slippery boggle? No you don't.

Abrupt Decay- An uncounterable instant speed removal spell that will get rid of a lot of what the modern format is. This card really shines in helping against Blood Moon. In response to it entering you float GB and then kill it.

Path to Exile- The best spot removal in modern. Definitely a four-of.

Maelstrom Pulse- I think of this card as Abrupt Decay's bigger brother. It costs one more and it's only a sorcery speed, but it's ability to get rid of more things and multiples of them is relevant. Especially in a meta using Elspeth and a ton of spirit tokens

THE CREATURES:

Birds of Paradise- Mana accelerator early game and chump blocker late game for the cost of one.

Kitchen Finks- This card is so good against so many different kind of decks that it's pretty much an auto-include of four of them. It shines against aggro by giving me lifegain and the ability to block twice. Against burn it gives me that little extra that is always needed. It's extremely resistent to board sweeps as it comes back AND gains me life in the process. It's good.

Loxodon Smiter- Opposing Liliana of the Veil is a thing. Way more often though, it's a 4/4 beater that I can drop on turn two.

Thrun, the Last Troll- This card is tough for the opponent to get rid of. They can't target it and it can regenerate. An unanswered Thrun against control means game. It's good in pretty much any situation it's put in.

LANDS:

Pretty simple. Lotta fetches to thin out my deck as well as keep my deck consistently giving me what I need. The basic lands are in there to combat Blood Moon in the early game. Stirring Wildwood can be very helpful in a lot of situation.

SIDEBOARD:

Oblivion Ring- I can pretty much get rid of anything I want for three mana. It's nice. It kills any Eldrazi, any planeswalker, tron hates this card. It can be sided in to help combat just about anything that will really give you problems.

Thrun, the Last Troll- For when the 3 in the MB just aren't enough.

Loxodon Smiter- In the second game I almost always side this in.

Rest in Peace- It stops storm, reanimator, and melira pod

Rule of Law. Mainly in there for storm. The only way I have to interact with storm is my discard, this helps a lot. And it doesn't really hinder me that much.

Abrupt Decay- As said before it helps against Blood Moon. It also wrecks most aggro decks, and it's uncounterable.

HOW TO PLAYFirst game you want to learn their gameplan. Your eight discard spells is how you do this. Get rid of anything they need and mess them up. Then you play your deck accordingly. Second game you most always bring in your second Loxodon Smiter and beat face with it. The first game is really about learning their deck and how you should play yours. This deck is extremely versatile in how it plays so you can effectively combat jsut about any deck as long as you know what you're doing. Surgical extraction also is huge here. If you're able to make them discard a key piece to their deck, then remove all of them, you're set for that game. It's a pretty nasty move, and it works.

Thanks for reading, if anyone read to the end of that, please leave any and all suggestions you have.
