I was wanting to create a modern deck that I'd love to play. This was what I came up with. This is an outlast deck and an OUTLAST (The keyword) deck. The deck is meant to gain life and deal damage, hopefully equalling out and causing you to win the game. I have been testing this deck rigorously and will continue to do so in order to make it even better. This is the deck I have settled on for now, but there will be many updates as I try combos and find new ones.

When you start the game you want to look for your one drops. Disowned Ancestor and Ghost-Lit Redeemer are your best first-hand cards to get. With Ghost-Lit Redeemer you will want to save the ability until the end step of the opponent's turn. If they are hitting you for two or less, there is no reason to block because you will just get that back. with Disowned Ancestor, it is very good to get it out early and start using outlast. You will take a couple hits, but without full removal, your Disowned Ancestor is going to become really hard to kill the more counters get put on it.

You will also want to make sure that you get your other outlast cards out there onto the field, if only for their abilities. Abzan Battle Priest, Abzan Falconer, Ainok Bond-Kin, and Mer-Ek Nightblade are all cards that add effects to cards with +1/+1 counters. Effects like deathtouch, first strike, flying, and lifelink are all nice to have when your playing the game.

Sun Titan attacks and uses ability to bring back outlast cards, life gain, and even Ajani, Caller of the Pride.

Ajani, Caller of the Pride uses his +1 in order to give any creature +1/+1. This, plus the outlast effect cards can create an unbeatable army.

Gray Merchant of Asphodel x 4 for 2, then 4, then 6, then 8 damage. PLus any other black cards you have in play.

Updates Add

Hey guys, so I just got done doing 20 test games of my deck against all of my previous decks that I have built, as well as some of the top decks here on TappedOut, and my deck lost one game out of the 20 games. This is ridiculous. I'm not sure what it is about the deck, but it's working out really well. I am going to keep testing and see if there are any cards I don't really use.

UPDATE

So I ended up taking the Typhoid Rats out of the deck and I replaced it with another Mer-Ek Nightblade. This is going to let me get him out faster, and his ability is all about giving deathtouch to creatures with +1/+1 counters on them, which will be a lot of my creatures. It's a more powerful card than the rats in the long run and I think it will be better for the deck.
