Baggy Breeches - Lvl 1. Baggy Commander!

Commander / EDH Mono-Red

Preturbed

What is the Baggy Challenge?

This story is copy/pasted. It is not my story. I was first introduced to the baggy challenge in Las Vegas while attending MagicCon. A mutual friend sat down at our pod and pulled out, you guessed it, a baggy. It was a plastic ziploc bag to be exact I saw a full, unsleeved deck nestled inside and I was speechless. I asked him what he was doing and he said “I’m gonna play some baggy”

The Rules

Find a commander that has multiple iterations or at bare minimum a shared creature type and overarching theme. It’s much more fun if you “evolve“ your chosen commander through the levels so if you can find a commander with single, dual and 3 color combinations that’s ideal

Build a commander deck using ONLY COMMONS Cards that have been printed in various rarities still qualify as long as the card in your deck is common.

Grab yourself a baggy. That’s your deck box. Sleeves? Nope, you gotta earn those. A rubber band is acceptable though. ‍♂️

Play Games. You don’t even have to win them. Baggy is all about earning points. Point system below:

Each game you play you can earn 3 points.

For each player you kill you earn 1 point.

For each win you earn 3 points.

These points do not stack (Ex: If you kill 2 players and win the game you do not earn 4 points you will only earn 3 for the win, etc.

Upgrading Your Deck

As you earn points you’ll be able to upgrade your deck. Mark the points you’ve earned on the commander card itself (I bought gold star stickers ) most commonly people will just mark tallies on the commander.

**10 Points: ** You can now use uncommons. Swap out however many cards as you would like.

20 Points: You can now use rares. Swap out as many cards as you would like.

30 Points: You can now use mythic rares. Swap out as many cards as you would like.

40 Points: You’ve completed this level!

Once you reach 40 points on your commander you can upgrade your commander to Level 2!

Level 2 & Level 3

When you upgrade to Level 2 & Level 3 the system is the same. You must restart with commons and work your way back through the point system to upgrade. Level 3 you must have a 3-Color commander. And at Level 3 you finally get to start using sleeves for your deck but your deck box must always be a baggy.
