Hi folks! This is my new version of White-Blue Control in Historic. Those of you who know me are well aware I'm fond of playing this kind of decks in every existing format or metagame: you're not going to be disappointed! Please, meet my latest version of Azorius Total Control!

Let's discuss the choices I've made.

COUNTERSPELLS

  • 4x Censor. I'm still not sure whether this is more useful than Jwari Disruption  . I'm currently trying it out and it's performing just fine.

  • 4x Absorb. Pretty standard in these kind of decks nowadays. It helps us staying alive against aggro and is a hard counter against control.

  • 2x Dovin's Veto: the best Negate ever printed!

  • 2x Essence Scatter, a cheap counterspell to interact with the most problematic creatures.

  • 1x Exclude, which serves the same purpose with a little upside at the cost of one more mana.

REMOVAL SPELLS

  • 4x Wrath of God, our sweeper of choice. It's not as inevitable as Supreme Verdict, but it does the trick.

  • 1x Settle the Wreckage, to exile indestructible threats that are perfectly fine with us casting Wraths.

  • 3x Hour of Revelation, our catch-all to dispose of creatures, planeswalkers, artifacts or enchantments.

  • 1x Ondu Inversion  , the 4th hard sweeper which lets us shave the land count.

CARD ADVANTAGE AND SELECTION

  • 4x Omen of the Sea. This has become a staple and I'm not cutting any copy of it. So useful.

  • 4X Sphinx's Revelation. This is the real MVP of the deck, serving both as a card-advantage engine and as a win-condition at the same time. We need 4 Revs. Period.

WIN-CONDITIONS

  • 2x Teferi, Hero of Dominaria. This should have been called Teferi, Hero of Standard, Modern and Legacy but it was too long a name and didn't fit. A hell of a Planeswalker! He draws us cards, deals with any kind of permanent and wins us the game if left unchecked.

  • 1x Emeria's Call  , basically an additional land with upsides.

  • 2x Clear the Mind: Our personal Elixir of Immortality . The real win-condition. The most boring one for sure!
