I've grown tired of playing the rusted old robots. Thought it was time for some innovation. Several cards from Kaladesh have driven this build. This idea has been floating around since they printed
Hardened Scales
.
The basic idea is to put out several extra counter cards and build a strong army. By choosing constructs(that's right construct tribal!) I get some of the best artifact creatures around to synergize with
Metallic Mimic
The counters then stack growing quite large if unchecked Hardened Scales + Metallic Mimic + Winding Constrictor
Arcbound Ravager + Hangarback Walker
Arcbound Ravager + Walking Ballista
both have great synergy together.
Bomat Courier
is a fantastic sleeper card. Starts out fast and can refill your hand if you've run dry. One of my favorites from Kaladesh. I have seen it perform well in Affinity and Burn I believe it's under utilized.
I've been able to playtest this build against Burn, Skred, and Abzan. Burn is somewhat tough, they need to run out of gas before we can stabilize and push the late game. Landing threats keeps them off your back for a bit. Skred is a tough match up simply due to the amount of removal, but against Abzan it's really strong. Even after sideboard it's strong. I look forward to playing this deck more. Honestly this is the most fun I've had playing a deck in a while.
That's the gist of it. Put lots of counters on stuff and swing big or wide. I played another version of this at an FNM it felt clunky with the build I had hoping this will perform better. Suggestions welcome, thanks for looking.
