Feels good to be Delirious (Modern)

Modern BG (Golgari) Competitive Delirium Midrange Sacrifice

saber4734

Threshold returns with more power in Delirium. The Delirium mechanic allows this deck to fill up its graveyard with the right kind of cards for powerful effects.

Creatures

Grim Flayer is the front man for this deck. One of the most powerful cards printed in this set. He is only a two drop meaning he can get on board early and do his job. He is likely to draw out removal but losing one to removal or in battle only fuels Delirium for future Grim Flayers. And his ability once he deals combat damage can fuel Delirium or simply be used as a super scry effect.

Deathcap Cultivator is another excellent card for this deck for his obvious ramp benefits and with Delirium he makes a formidable blocker once he gains Deathtouch.

Gnarlwood Dryad is only an uncommon 1/1 but he is only a one drop and has Deathtouch. Combine that with Delirium giving him +2/+2 and he is worth running three of.

Inexorable Blob helps generate some tokens. In case you're throwing too many creatures into your graveyard.

Soul Swallower gets larger at your upkeep if you have Delirium. With Trample that makes him a threat.

Delirium Support

Evolving Wilds is just a land but it must be mentioned. It can help fuel Delirium.

Grapple with the Past is a great Delirium enabler and can return key creatures that have died in combat or to removal.

Sinister Concoction can fall under removal but also is an enchantment that gets sacrificed making it easier to get Delirium. Plus the added benefit of putting the top card of your library into your graveyard and discarding a card means this one spell has the potential to get Delirium on its own. Depending on what's already in your graveyard of course. Actual removal spells were removed for this spell.

Crop Sigil is straight up gold with the first ability being a may ability. Combined with a Season of Growth on the battlefield and it is even better. Then it has its own Delirium ability for graveyard recursion.

Removal

Beast Within we all know. Solid removal with a slight downside but it isn't a staple card for nothing.

Deadly Brew can be considered Delirium fuel but i'm listing it as removal. I consider it an interesting addition because it makes and your opponent sacrifice a creature or planeswalker but on the other end it allows you to return a permanent from your graveyard. So maybe you sacrifice something less useful for something better.

Devouring Tendrils is either creature or planeswalker removal plus some additional life gain.

Naturalize is in here to get rid of those pesky enchantments and artifacts that just make you grind your teeth while you sleep.

Planeswalkers

Liliana, the Last Hope First off her -7 ability is not meant to be used since this deck runs no Zombies. Her +1 can be potential removal if not just a good deterrent for attacking creatures. Her -2 fuels Delirium and is graveyard recursion. And last she's a Planewalker which if put into the graveyard fuels Delirium.
