legendofa on Hybrid rule change

I think it's fine if it's not abused. Bloom Tender is one of my bigger concerns. I would personally house rule Tender to only create mana from your commander's identity. I know infinite mana is basically a gimme in -based color sets anyway, but something just doesn't feel right about letting Eladamri, Korvecdal or whatever use Tender + Leyline of the Guildpact for five mana with minimal investment. Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy would be worse. Maybe if this happens, I'll put the Leyline in my Elf deck and see how it feels.

Also, things like the Shadowmoor Liege cycle feel potentially abusable. If you dump Creakwood Liege, Boartusk Liege, Wilt-Leaf Liege, Thistledown Liege, Mindwrack Liege, and Glen Elendra Liege into that Kinnan deck as six extra anthems with good stuff on the side, I'm going to be questioning it.

Outside of those sort of cases, I'm generally okay with it. I feel like this is one of those "use it responsibly" ideas--using hybrids to support your strategy is fine, using hybrids as cheese feels like it's against the spirit of the color identity rules. There's a few decks I'd definitely brew up under new hybrid rules, Kulrath Knight being one of them. Love that card.

I've taken into consideration several of those cards and did a bit of testing with Priest of Titania and a fetchable Disciple of Freyalise  Flip. They seem to be more reliant and the disciple can be used during the massive amount of mana being gained to sacrifice Atraxa, Grand Unifier thus giving more cards and almost guaranteeing more combo cards or a Green Sun's Zenith to fetch Craterhoof Behemoth or Shaman of the Pack if they have not been drawn. This is in the spirit of combo elves more than any midrange option. Elvish Warmaster is nice, but that ability of triggering only once is not as impressive as Eladamri, Korvecdal being used as a card draw for top deck creature spells. I can still do more testing with Leaf-Crowned Visionary, but Rite of Harmony does give an almost similar effect to Glimpse of Nature with the downside of it needing to EtB. Both Rite and Leaf-Crown would be hit by Spell Snare but I can see an argument for the Crown if more Cavern of Souls are added.

I removed Evendo, Waking Haven since I was hoping they could be quickly turned into Gaea's Cradle, but they are way too slow and having the restrictions of stationing at sorcery speed is a big hinder in case one needs to toss an elf in front of a creature.

The trickiest part of this has been messing with sideboards to combat weaknesses but for the most part the main is done minus a few cards I either missed when researching or an addition or removal of numbers of copies.

legendofa on How Good is Pathbreaker Ibex?

Craterhoof Behemoth has haste. It doesn't have to survive for a turn before it starts doing its thing, and the mana cost has lots of ways to get around it or mitigate it--ramp, reanimation, something like Eladamri, Korvecdal and other cheats, etc. For , the Behemoth gets +2/+2 and immediate use over Pathbreaker Ibex, and that's a lot of its power.

That's not to say the Ibex isn't a really good card. It's strong and worthwhile in its own right, and it's easier to bring out by itself. The Behemoth's haste, though, is probably the deciding factor. The Ibex just needs a little bit more support to get full output than the Behemoth, and that little extra support can make the difference in a match.

Ibex is a beatdown card. Behemoth is a finisher.

I dearly would like to put Eladamri, Korvecdal into this deck, but I cannot make room, for him, and I already have copies of him in two other decks, so that is not a major issue, for me.

Icbrgr, that does make sense, but I then thought that putting her into that deck would raise its mana curve, and I am seeking to lower the mana curve, so why not put either Eladamri, Korvecdal or Ghired, Mirror of the Wilds into that deck, instead, as they would lower its mana curve (and I already have two cards that double the amount of tokens that it can generate anyway)?

I have replaced Decanter of Endless Water and Thought Vessel with Bloom Tender and Faeburrow Elder, because the creatures are better suited for this deck; while those creatures may not possess abilities that trigger when they enter the battlefield, this deck contains numerous other cards that synergize with creatures, such as Aura Shards, Eladamri, Korvecdal, or Chulane, himself, so I am very pleased with this decision.

I played a few times vs elves with the new Eladamri, Korvecdal. It was disgusting lol. You gotta update this man :)

I have replaced Vizier of the Menagerie with Eladamri, Korvecdal, which reduced the average converted mana cost of this deck from 3.35 to 3.33, which is very nice, because Eladamri's ability shall be most useful for this deck.
