Captain's Hook

Artifact — Equipment

Equipped creature gets +2/+0, has menace, and is a Pirate in addition to its other creature types.

Whenever Captain's Hook becomes unattached from a permanent, destroy that permanent.

Equip (: Attach this to target creature you control. Equip only as a sorcery. This enters the battlefield unattached and stays on the battlefield if the creature this card is attached to leaves the battlefield.)

I assume blue is running off Omniscience, so I'm going to go wild.

Clergy's Vestments

Artifact - Equipment

Equipped creature is a Cleric in addition to its other types.

Equipped creature has vigilance and ": Prevent the next 2 damage that would be dealt to any target this turn."

Equip

The silk rests lightly upon the wearer's shoulders. The responsibility does not.

Inspired by Captain's Hook, Sigiled Sword of Valeron, that sort of thing.

Create another equipment or aura that adds a subtype to whatever it's on.

I would LOAD the deck with nothing but combat tricks and equipment. The equipment specifically because those stay under YOUR control, so you get whatever benefits they provide (card draw/lifegain/etc). Something like Bronze Cudgels gives you a little bit of a dial to control how fast things get out of control. Captain's Hook gives you something of an emergency killswitch. Champion's Helm keeps other people’s grimy paws off of him. Dream-Thief's Bandana could even open your deck up to all sorts of other shenanigans. I’d start with equipment. 100%.

Spark Double, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, or Sakashima the Impostor copying Brass lets you steal multiple things per turn. Strionic Resonator can do the same by copying Brass's EOT triggered ability.

Captain's Hook would allow you to turn a stolen creature into a pirate. The menace is nice too. Overall the card is pretty useful for a Brass deck.

Spectral Sailor is a cheap pirate with flying. Good for getting Brass's effect to happen sooner. Kari Zev, Skyship Raider is similar as she is hard to block and provides another attacking pirate.

To be honest with you, I don't think Brass is a good vehicle for a chaos deck. A lot of setup is needed for Brass to do her thing efficiently, and the more chaos stuff you include the less likely you are to use Brass effectively. But if combining the themes of pirates and chaos means a lot to you then it makes sense. I'd suggest more changes (such as more low-cmc evasive pirates and more 2-cmc mana rocks) to maximize Brass's strengths but you'd probably have to forgo the chaos cards to include those.

Lightning-Rig Crew . Kediss, Emberclaw Familiar . Captain's Hook .

Double Strike would give you two triggers

If you are damaging all opponents, Sigil of Sleep is terrifying

So, I'm actually working on a high-powered combo deck similar to this, although I paired Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator with Vial Smasher the Fierce , for a few reasons; Curiosity has a target in the command zone, making Vial Smasher a pirate can cause him to make treasure, and adding black can help me find my combo pieces.

I wanted to play combos from the beginning cuz I'm a Johnny at heart. Instead of using Arcane Adaptation (cuz I forgot about it) and Maskwood Nexus (the only copy I own is in another deck) I instead used Runed Stalactite and Captain's Hook . Will be switching over eventually, and adding black gives me access to not only Mayhem Devil as another combo piece, but there are a slew of add-black pirates that help disrupt the field.

“I'm not terribly attached to it, though.”

Unlike the Captain's Hook of course, my mistake ;)

I just noticed (like the comment before me) you only run 33 lands (including mdfc). I try not to go below 38 lately and have noticed much less screw in doing so. Of course, 4-5 more cuts seems heavy, here’s some more suggestions though:

  • Fire Whip is cool with malcolm but fragile
  • Valakut Exploration is a way to “draw cards” but if you don’t run the lands to trigger it
  • Black Market you don’t really have a sink for this mana, so where will you put it? It will charge up naturally over time but optimistically this gives you 1 mana by turn 5 and 3 or 4 by turn 7 in my experience

Have you played the deck yet? How was Nadier's Nightblade? At first i thought “why” but it’s a decent wincon with all the treasures!

TheBestMagicCard I considered Sunforger but I wanted to try to avoid it for originality and a more casual approach to Boros equipment. Definitely if people want to upgrade stuff id say include it and probably add a couple more instants to the deck. I also considered the Kaldra equipment and maybe should've included them but ended up using my budget on equipment like Bloodforged Battle-Axe and Helm of the Host .

And sorry I guess it wasn't super clear but Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist is a big part of the deck and lets you attach your equipment to target permanent which with Helm of the Host or any other equipment in the deck you could use Ardenn to attach them to your opponents creatures. That's why Captain's Hook was included in the list as some removal. Just some janky stuff. Thanks for the concern though and for the recommendations.
