Combining Pirate and Flying tribal to form an aggro-control deck, based on PVDR's article.
Most in the deck are Flying Pirates, so both Favorable Winds and Fell Flagship pump them, making them much more sizable threats. Fell Flagship might get more or less of a presence in the deck, based on testing. Skyship Plunderer is there mostly as a 2/1 flier that can be pumped by both, but it can also increase the counters on Aerialist. Hostage Taker is a non-flying pirate, but is valuable as tempo/removal on a stick, while Nimble Obstructionist is a flying non-pirate, with similar value as a modal tempo card.
The deck still needs some optimizing and testing. Currently, I think it's a little too low on the creature count, but I'm unsure what to remove for more Obstructionists or Hostage Takers or other creatures. Any suggestions for moving around numbers or other tweaks would be appreciated. While I'm not sure the Favorable Winds gameplan is the most competitive, it's one of my favorite cards, so I'm excited to try to make it work!
Sideboard has extra Duress and Spell Pierce for noncreature-based decks, and Sorcerous Spyglass for other decks that fall apart against it - and for the flavor, of course! Other sideboard suggestions would be appreciated, I'm not very experienced with Standard, nor sideboarding.
The maybeboard consists mostly of non-flying Pirates that seem promising. If I end up wanting to take the deck away from Favorable Winds, that's roundabouts where I'd end up going.
