My thanks! It's so much fun to play - unfortunately, my entire play group sees this trick coming, now eheh.

why the SB erebos?

Erebos serves many purposes - he shuts down lifegain, and he's very good (at least in theory) against control. Late game card advantage that sticks a cap on my opponent. He might never come into the red zone, but I have yet to be dissatisfied in bringing him in, in slower matchups.

If you wind up dumping your hand often, and you obviously use tutors to find what you need, anyway, you might consider SB Ensnaring Bridge, instead.

I'd like to run it, but it nerfs my guys, as well. Sometimes you just don't Valakut them out, and need to swing with Knights and Giants. It also isn't tutorable, unfortunately. If I relied even less than I already do on combat damage, this would be in the board, rest assured. An interesting suggestion, though!

Oh wow i like your deck especcially the Emeria, The Sky Ruin omen combo that is good And i also like theTreefolk Harbinger Murmuring Bosk, I'm going to try and implement those idea into my deck maybe. I had omen in it but took it out that emeria combo though is definitely good enough to put it back in there.

Any ways I like your deck and our decks are pretty similar I think you might get some ideas from mine its more of a rush concept ,but still can work end game or midrange.

And i also suggest Crucible of Worlds it can become a great combo engine with the addition of certain land cards like Horizon Canopy or Ghost Quarter or fetches.

Thanks! That means a lot to me - and your deck looks sweet!

I like Crucible, but not in this deck, I don't think. It doesn't have much synergy, though it saves me from land destruction. I thought about Horizon Canopy, but in the end I found it to deal too much damage or to cost too much mana for me to swing it. And Ghost Quarter - I love the card. A lot. But I'm pushing it, as it is, with Halimar Depths, Grove of the Guardian, Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, and the one Swamp. I'd put at least one in, but I need to hit my colours, with some consistency, too.

With all of the shuffle effects in this deck, I'm not sure something like Halimar Depths is worth it. Seems like there are better utility land options.

It's really good in a pinch - generally, it's pretty decent. Like, it'll find a tutor or an Omen or something useful. And if not, like you said, I have many shuffle effects to turn it into a free Ponder. Perhaps there are better options, but it has served me quite well. I certainly understand the concern! It's a weird one!

Yeah i agree with you i only put crucible into my deck after adding cards like Summer Bloom and Azusa, Lost but Seeking as they take so much land i needed a land source to play from crucible was amazing in providing that. without them I don't think crucible is that great.

true true i definitely understand the restrictions of the lands in decks like these. I suggested Ghost Quarter though not for hitting another player's land ,but instead your own flagstones . The combo is really beautiful as you get to store your landfall on the field while still tapping for mana and when you finnally do unleash the land fall from them it still doesn't interrupt the mana you couldve had from those lands you still get 2 mana from them because the basic comes in untapped and you floated the white from the flag before hand. Its like having fetches that tap for mana before you fetch with them. and it allows knight to cause 3 l-fall in a turn. if he sacs looks for quarter and bombs a flag with the quarter.

I also agree with kmcree worries about halimar depths. Maybe replace it with something else maybe Oboro, Palace in the Clouds which is assured land fall every turn. Or one of the other lands I suggested. Also how does grove of the guardian work for you? i tried it out in previous kotr decks never really got to use it much so i stopped putting it in.

And also another very very beautiful land combo you can use with knight of the reliquary is instant speed fetching a Sejiri Steppe to give any of your creatures pro from removal. Litterally any time i use kotr i always put in at least 2 steppes as it is just a massive advantage.

,but anyways I'll be quiet now and I like your deck and completely respect your reasoning to keep your own flavor of lands in there.

Quarter does seem pretty sweet... I might have to tinker a bit! Steppe also looks nice, and I have a few lying around, but if the Knights die, they die. I don't really need to care about them as much, since they're mostly tools for drawing out counters and removal. After that, I can go off uninterrupted. And if they live, I win just that much faster!

Oboro is a bit of a stretch, and in a deck where I'm not going for Landfall but for card advantage, perhaps misplaced? I believe it has a place in Modern - a good place - but it is not this place.

As for Grove of the Guardian... It serves many functions. The obvious first is a backup win-con. It can also generate fear in my opponents, since they very likely don't know what I'm up to til it's too late. And a big one - honestly, the best reason to run one-ofs - is it screws with people. If they see it, they don't know what to expect, it may change the way they board, etc. For example, in one of my Standard decks, I run so many one-ofs it's damn near impossible to accurately board. This is a philosophy in deck design I will drag to the grave. As far as how well Grove has served me, I have not been dissatisfied. I've even gotten the token out more than once! What a great feeling!

I appreciate your interest! You've given me much to consider.

Impressive! Most impressive!!Just a blast to playtest! My recommendations would only be to try out 1xSun Titan and 1xGhost Quarter, for obvious reasons in each case... Recur your value permanents and 1-ofs, and remove man-lands from decks that have ways of evading Path to Exile

As one-ofs it could take awhile to know whether the difference is worthwhile, but the build looks quite tuned as it is, and there's little I would change without playing a LOT more games with it.

justawhiteguy - Thanks! That really means a lot! It's been a lot of fun to develop over the year or so I've been building it.

So, as for your suggestions... Sun Titan is interesting, and I hadn't thought of it. It does have amazing utility, so I'll see if I can't find a spot for it! And Ghost Quarter is one I've had a bit of a struggle with, trying to find room. The obvious swap would've probably been Halimar Depths, but now that Retreat to Coralhelm has been spoiled (which combos with Knight of the Reliquary, if you hadn't noticed), it serves as more than just a bad Ponder. I'll try and find room, though, because it is such a powerful card. Thanks again! You've given me a lot to think about!

Also, I'll be updating the description soon - several cards have changed, and I need to better emphasise the importance of each piece. Stay tuned, all!

Comments on the BFZ additions:

Maybe Bring to Light? It might be hard to converge for 4 for Scapeshift.

Why is Retreat to Hagra in here? I think the Retreat to Coralhelm combo might be better but that's just me.

Why Duress over Thoughtseize or IOK?

thuzra says... #20

Bring to Light is interesting, and I might have to try it out. It doesn't facilitate Omen or the Retreats, but it could be good.

Retreat to Hagra is a product of speculation. The thought is, if I can't get Omen, a sizable Scapeshift with RtH out (or perhaps two) could be great. RtC is obviously powerful with Knight, but I have yet to actually generate value off of it.

And Duress. It's cheap, doesn't cost life, and snags nearly everything I care about. It may be worth the switch to TS or IoK if I can also take Fulminator Mage, Harmonic Sliver, Qasali Pridemage, and others, but I'm still testing.

I'd really love to see some Renegade Rallier in this 75. Crack your steve to trigger revolt, play rallier, get your steve back. Reliquary activation get land - play rallier, get back fetch land with valakut's in play. You can get a lot of miles off playing with revolt in this shell.

Cheers.

Jhed1 - That is a very interesting card. In this deck, though, it has only one function - get Steve and fetchlands (and Knight sacs) back from the grave. While that's not nothing, I don't think it's enough to justify its inclusion in this deck. I think I can find a place for that, though! Thank you for the suggestion!

@ thuzra - that's true - I guess I was just expecting Horizon Canopy to be one of your utility lands in a reliquary shell - that combo of cards is pretty legit :D

You can actually Scapeshift on turn 3 for the combo kill, +1
