The goal of this deck is fairly simple, to play knights such as Knight of Grace and Knight of Malice to draw out the game until you can drop Aryel, Knight of Windgrace and go wide, pumping your tokens with tribal synergies such as History of Benalia and Radiant Destiny. It's not hard to get the ascend trigger from Radiant Destiny in this deck, and giving everything vigilance is just insane. In addition, Aryel, Knight of Windgrace benefits from having so many knight tokens, as her second ability will let you kill anything, provided you have enough knights. Call the Cavalry can also help you get the ascend trigger on Radiant Destiny When all your knights have vigilance, Aryel can become quite scary as you can attack and still threaten to use her ability.
Demystify is there for pesky enchantments such as other History of Benalia, Ixalan's Binding etc. Duress help us attack the hand of a control player, limiting their options and preventing them from slowing us down. Originally in the main board, Josu Vess, Lich Knight was moved to the sideboard due to games not lasting long enough for us to kick him. His double black casting cost also makes it hard to cast him on curve if I also want to hit turn 3 History of Benalia. However, he still has his place in longer, grindier games where spending 10 mana to create 20 power could potential end the game.Lost Legacy hits Approach of the Second Sun. On Serra's Wings is present to deal with the many angels that seem to be running around my LGS. Substitute if you don't have the same problem. Settle the Wreckage is there for other token decks.
Wow, #29! That's awesome! You guys love seeing this deck apparently, and I'll continue to update it as the standard format evolves. Hopefully Core Set 2019 can bring us some nice knights to stick in here!
With help from OberstHati the landbase has been updated, and our selection of removal spells have been slightly altered. The big mention though is the removal of Josu Vess, Lich Knight to sideboard, and the addition of Benalish Marshal to the mainboard.
Just bought the singles and constructed the deck, playtesting will come soon.
Initial play testing has given me good records, but more importantly, Core Set 2019 is upon us. The most notable card is Valiant Knight This is much easier to cast than Benalish Marshal, does not compete with History of Benalia for the three drop slot, and most importantly, has an activated ability that gives all our knights double strike, that triggers on the same turn a turn three History Ult would, allowing us to swing for stupidly high damage. Additionally, Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants gives us a bit of graveyard recursion, as more than half of our creatures are one or two drops. +1/+1 counters are also a pleasant ability, should I decide to include him.
