Good morning everyone and welcome back to the wonderful world of Dark Souls! Today we have a deck with a theme centered on two of my favorite characters in the series: Knight Artorias and the Great Wolf, Sif. The basic goal of the deck is a Golgari infect beat-down using Phyrexian Crusader and Briarpack Alpha as our two stars in order to reflect the synergistic relationship between Artorias and Sif. However, as many of you know, other creatures lurk in the abyss, as well as some above ground allies, who will help Artorias achieve victory in his endeavors. So, that being said let us review the card choices!
Abyss Walkers:
Phyrexian Crusader: Our Knight Artorias. Although he hits the field turn three his protection from red and white makes his infect skill particularly potent especially for a turn 4 swing.
Briarpack Alpha : The great wolf, Sif. He is meant to come in on turn 4 to give an extra boost to our glorious knight and push us to victory.
Glistener Elf : As we all know there were four Knights of Gwyn. This here is our Lord's Blade Ciaran who comes in early as our turn one threat softening the opponent for Artorias when he hits the battlefield.
Ichorclaw Myr : A monster of the abyss come to fight alongside Artorias.
Plague Stinger: Another beast of the abyss. Flying plus infect makes him a strong early game threat with pump abilities.
Spells:
Sword of Light and Shadow: Every good Knight needs his sword.
Thoughtseize: The abyss is a daunting place, you never know what you'll lose in the darkness.
Mutagenic Growth: An obvious choice for infect. The abyss grants monstrous strength for those who dare traverse the darkness.
Abrupt Decay: Arguably the best removal in modern. Any B/G deck would be lost without it.
Apostle's Blessing: Artorias' protection from the abyss grants him the ability to step through his enemies on the battlefield.
Rancor : The strength of the over-world still hangs with Artorias as he plunges deeper into the abyss to face his foe.
Wild Defiance: The great beast Sif grants his strength to his master in the face of enemy attacks.
