Reworked RG Eldrazi. It's been a while since I dusted off this deck. So, I'm taking out the
Once Upon a Time
that were briefly included, following the ban-hammer!
I plan on trying the new
Lithoform Engine
in this deck. The ability to copy everything and anything just seems pretty busted to me.
Abilities (activated or triggered)
Pay 2: Search for 2 lands off a fetch
Pay 2: Exile 2 cards off the TKS trigger.
Pay 2: OP discards 2 cards if they target Reality Smasher
Pay 2: Get 2 cascade triggers off BBE
Pay 2: Blow up two lands with Fulminator Mage
Pay 2: Steal 2 creatures with Obligator (pretty mana intensive but possible)
You get the idea
Instants / Sorceries
Pay 3: Give -5/-5 again with Dismember - or to a new target
Pay 3: Lightning Bolt deals 6. Or 3 and 3.
Pay 3: Tutor for 2 things with Stirrings
You get the idea
Permanents
Pay 4: Get another Reality Smasher; or TKS (if you have the mana)
But getting 2 Matter Reshapers or Fulminator Mages is still big game.
The rest is pretty stock I guess. Other than
Domri, Anarch of Bolas
in one of the flex spots. Haven't drawn it much but it seems decent. Copying the fight ability could be good. Also helps land my
Noble Hierarch
if I bring in
Chalice of the Void
out of the sideboard.
So, let's talk about
Chalice of the Void
. OK, so I haven't been able to find any other R/G Eldrazi lists that play it... but hear me out. I only bring it in for those match-ups where it hurts the OP even more than it hurts me. (e.g. I played against Death Shadow decks 4 out of six matches at recent FNMs (before lockdown) and one of the other match-ups was burn, so
Chalice of the Void
was a house.
It does hurt the deck, without doubt, given the number of 1-drops we have. I've upped the number of
Cavern of Souls
I'm running, (3 maindeck now) to mitigate against sideboard Chalice games and it has helped me to stick a
Noble Hierarch
when I've needed one. As mentioned above, Domri helps too. I just think the upside in the right match-up justifies the inclusion.
