Description:
This deck combos Gorgon's Head with Izzet Staticaster, Boros Reckoner, and creatures with first strike. This deck has evolved a lot. This most recent version includes M15 goodies to include Ensoul Artifact, and Shrapnel Blast to make it more aggressive. It is the current version that I am using in my Showdown series and running at my LGS.

This version attempted to use Dictate of Heliod as a combat trick to buff first striking 2/2's but flopped badly. An example of how to reduce flexibility without improving resiliency or consistency.

Archive of the version I was using pre M15 and have used in a past Showdown and at my LGS with some success, but struggled against control. This version had been revamped to deal with control out of the sideboard, but with the goal of improving a Game 1 control matchup, changes were made.
Playing the deck
This deck starts as an aggro deck, but also has control elements. The pressure you are applying is not intended to win by T5, like you would expect from RDW or a pure aggro build. Gorgon's Head gives you that control element that synergies well with your creatures to even out the matchup as the game goes longer. Izzet Staticaster with the Gorgon's Head is king after T5, you can flash it, equip it (albeit on your turn at sorcery speed) and kill anything without pro blue/red. Ensoul Artifact and Shrapnel Blast add early pressure and can act as a finisher, especially if you flash in Dictate of the Twin Gods on their end step.
