Etiquette For Being a Proper Host

Casual GW (Selesnya)

If you've never seen the Host/Augment mechanic before, here's how it works: -Host creatures are just creatures with the Host supertype and an ETB trigger. -Augment creatures attach to Hosts and change their ETB trigger into something repeatable. -To Augment, pay the cost, declare the target, and reveal the Augment creature from your hand. Opponents can respond here. If it resolves, you attach the creatures and combine names, type lines, text boxes, P/T, all that stuff. If the Host is removed in response to the ability, the Augment stays in your hand.

Doctor Teeth here allows you to immediately search up an Augment as soon as one of your Hosts enters the battlefield. There are definitely tricks you can pull with this! Right now I've concentrated the recursive Hosts in this deck, but that will be something I pay attention to, as some combinations are incredibly strong.

Half-Kitten, Half+Adorable Kitten: If you live through a combat step you gain 1d6 life for each time you were dealt damage. Half-Squirrel, Half- + Ordinary Pony : Flicker all of your creatures whenever your opponents get a nontoken creature. Angelic Rocket + Serpentine : Landfall - Vindicate. Half-Shark, Half- + Wild Crocodile : Beginning of your upkeep, search up basic land into your hand. Before you draw. Get that thinning value. Feisty Stegosaurus + Humming- : Battallion - Deal 1d6 to a potential blocker.

The Host/Augment mechanic was one of my favorite things to play with in Unstable Limited. It made games feel different, and made me feel extremely clever when I found a new combination and where it could shine. It's a big part of why I wanted to make sure every Host and every Augment was in The Silver Showdown.

If you want a full Dr. Julius Jumblemorph deck, consider Surgeon General Commander to give you a five color deck and run Jumblemorph in the 99. Eladamri's Call, Chord of Calling, and Finale of Devastation will boost your consistency as you find up the Hosts you need.

And you could do something like... Half-Squirrel, Half-Pony when you have I dunno Avenger of Zendikar and Solemn Simulacrum out to make more Plants and more Landfall triggers every time your opponents play a creature.
