The goal of this deck, or what seems to be the main win con, is to have enough devotion so that I may use Genesis Hydra or Chord of Calling to seek out both Nylea, God of the Hunt and Xenagos, God of Revels and eventually attack my opponent with one enormous creature.

Additionally if this does not happen I intend to win in a typical Gruul fashion with an onslaught of big creatures.

Results of First FNM — Aug. 2, 2014

The deck played wonderfully this past Friday. I finished with a record of 4-1 where my one loss was in the finals. This was the best I have done at my LGS and was very happy to come in second. Round One: 2 and 0 against Jund planeswalkers. I overpowered him in both games one and two. Round Two: 2 and 0 against U/R aggro. Game one was won on the backs of Polukranos, Nylea, and Xenagos while game two I sided in Mistcutter and swept through his board. Round 3: 2 and 0 against B/W Control. Nylea, Genesis Hydra, Xenagos, Polukranos, and Chord of Calling dominated both matchups. Round Four: 2 and 0 against Junk Midrange. First match with Hornet Queen and I witnessed how annoying it really is. It brought all attacks to a standstill. Obzedat kept getting bounce damage but I eventually won both games using Genesis Hydra, Nylea, and Xenagos. Round Five: 1 and 2 against Mono Black Aggro. Game one was mine thanks again to Hornet Queen and stalling the game allowing me to stabilize the board. Games two and three were both losses as a result of Mogis' Marauder allowing his attacks to bypass all of my creatures. All in all I was very pleased and I look forward to making any changes if necessary in the future.
