Squee, Dubious Monarch

Legendary Creature — Goblin Noble

Haste

Whenever Squee, Dubious Monarch attacks, create a 1/1 red Goblin creature token that's tapped and attacking.

You may cast squee, Dubious Monarch from your graveyard by paying and exiling four other cards from your graveyard rather than paying its mana cost.

BOLD BRAVE decklist!.... 3 colors in pioneer is so so so rough for fast decks in particular... Because of my own personal struggle that why I have shifted to just Mono and embracing the RDW shells... as long as you can stay fast/consistent then more power to you!

I really think Roiling Vortex is almost worth being a mainboard card... besides going 2nd in the mirror match it always feels good and there are so many control builds I run into that end on resolving something like Atraxa, Grand Unifier and just taking the damage is almost a non issue but if they gain 7 life just there isn't a way to win.

Squee, Dubious Monarch is an interesting thought... but I think banking on the opponent not having a blocker in the late game just isnt worth the investment and something like Ramunap Ruins would be better served for just a little more desperate reach.

Hey, I saw your deck a little while ago and then your post on enchantment removal. I had a deck that started like this {technically I got a Red Burn pre con and went from there) and later added white for the enchantment removal. You can find my link here: Naya Burn Pioneer List. It was a private deck so the description is really just notes to myself.

Basically it's a straight up burn list, whatever can deal the most face damage is in. I took out all the wizards because I didn't like having to have a creature out for Wizard's Lightning and splashed white for main deck Boros Charm and Green for Atarka's Command (mainly the deal 3 and buff creatures giving a double buff to prowess creatures but having main deck "Can't Gain Life" is nice too).

I like your deck though! Bonecrusher is a great card I just opted for Eidolon of the Great Revel for more face burn but I could see Slaying Fire dealing 4 easy in your list, mine perhaps not as much especially at 3 mana.

Main deck I reduced it to 2 mana and have the Light Up the Stage to keep going through the deck. Sideboard I have some 3 drops like Chandra which is amazing as you know and I put in Squee, Dubious Monarch for a more removal heavy deck where I can't just board out all my creatures. Phoenix Chick is decent, it could be upgraded but the flying is surprisingly still good evasion to get in that 1 damage for spectacle.

I'd be interested in your thoughts as it seems your sideboard covers all bases and the list seems well built. After a good deal of play testing I found that you can in fact out race some decks and just straight up not run certain removals. I think Greesefang is the quickest graveyard deck and still by T3 we can deal a good amount of face damage with still another turn after their deck goes off.

enpc on Favorite creature recursion in Rakdos

Garna, Bloodfist of Keld doesn't need the dying creature to be non-token, why not use a bunch of token engines like Goblin Assault, Chancellor of the Forge (a good card to actually use recursion on), Goblin Rabblemaster, Legion Warboss, Krenko, Tin Street Kingpin and Krenko, Mob Boss. Then you can use cards like Pashalik Mons, Weirding Shaman and even potentially Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician as sac outlets. You also have access to cards like Squee, Dubious Monarch, Squee, the Immortal and Squee, Goblin Nabob (bascially all the Squee value).

I'm not saying build a goblin deck, but build a goblin deck.

I think a way that you can keep your Exalted theme, but still work around an inherent drawback of the strategy is to retool a bit and run creatures with Myriad or "when this creature attacks, create tokens that are tapped and attacking".

Token creatures that are created from Myriad, or that enter tapped and attacking are never declared as attackers, so Exalted will still trigger as intended. This essentially lets you punch one player with the Exalted creature, and still send stuff at your other opponents. Because Myriad is an attack trigger, you also get an extra Myriad token creature copies attacking your other opponents.

There are 14 cards in Mardu that could work here. A few notable ones:

  • Genasi Enforcers

  • Hammers of Moradin - A personal favorite for my Isshin deck. Hammers could be really helpful to open up attacking lanes for your Exalted creature.

  • Battle Angels of Tyr - Not budget, but also not outright busted. It can help create mana acceleration, draw, and gain life, but in my experience playing Battle Angels, it feels more like playing "catch up".

  • Elturel Survivors

Some fun creatures that create tokens on attack:

None of these cards are inherently optimized, except for maybe Battle Angels, but I think they could all add some extra spice to what you're already trying to accomplish.

I've been considering Burakos, Party Leader in the deck in addition to Harper Recruiter but my only concern is not hitting anything or not getting enough value out of Burakos Crow-Umbra. I've also been considering Professional Face-Breaker since it has a similar effect to Grim Hireling in creating treasure tokens through combat but uses them differently. There's also Squee, Dubious Monarch which creates tokens upon attacking and can get itself back. And another card draw option I've been considering is Search the Premises since it creates clue tokens like Sophina, Spearsage Deserter

Mardu Ascendancy is probably the best token production for this deck.

Adeline, Resplendent Cathar spits out 6 tokens at once.

Squee, Dubious Monarch is weaker token production but is immediate thanks to built in haste.

Captain's Claws is another good token producer here.

Plumb the Forbidden and Emberwilde Captain are both excellent budget friendly card draw here. The rest of draw in these colors can be a bit pricier (unless you go the Read the Bones route which is budget friendly but much weaker draw), but I'd recommend a few like Mangara, the Diplomat and Cunning Rhetoric.

Feel free to check out my list for ideas. Upvotes on any of my decks are appreciated. Isshin - Army of Darkness

_Delta_ on Rakdos Mishra meld

This could be fun, and my thoughts drifted to Mishra + Isshin, Two Heavens as One but that puts you into Mardu. I saw this one list in fact where they did this but with a Mardu legends matter theme with cards like Ratadrabik of Urborg, Adeline, Resplendent Cathar.

Tenacious Underdog, Squee, Dubious Monarch, and No One Left Behind all are I believe perhaps considering if you're discarding cards to the graveyard off of Phyrexian Dragon Engine  Meld.

Lol yes, I'm pretty stoked for the new Mishra, 8netherwind8. I submitted card entries for new Mishra, Phryexian Dragon, & Meld Mishra yesterday. I got notifications that I got feature queue tokens for the entries, so I'm hoping that means they'll be approved for use soon.

At the very least, I want new Mishra for the group slug aspect. Being able to Meld it is a cool goal to pull off though.

I recently made a few swaps: Squee, Dubious Monarch replaced Goblin War Drums, & Inquisitorial Rosette replaced Fireflux Squad. I like that the Rosette is a token maker & Menace anthem.

I recently saw a leak of a card portion from Brother's War for what essentially could be a Grand Abolisher that also makes tokens. I'm excited.
