Gitrog Toad EDH: What to run?

Commander Deck Help forum

Posted on March 23, 2016, 7:40 p.m. by CheeseBro

I want to make a Gitrog Monster EDH deck. I want it to be synergy based, not frog tribal (dont worry, i'll make that later). I assume it will look similar to a Titania list, but with black for more things, probably like Squandered Resources and Smallpox.

MagicalHacker: linking you cause you know your EDH stuff.

If you're not playing Drownyard Temple you're doing it wrong.

I'm making my list right now. I'm glad I'm not the only one bowing to the Toad. @_@

I'm slotting it right in as soon as I get a copy. Maybe you can find some inspiration from my deck: Legions of Loam decklist. I haven't spent too much time thinking on it yet, but it pumps cycle lands, gives an upside to fetchlands, staples "draw two" to the Marit Lage combo, and goes bananas with Scapeshift.

It's not as crazy as you might think with Scapeshift. Whenever more than one land is put into the graveyard from anywhere as part of the same effect that made that happen, you will only draw a total of one card.

Anyway, here's my take on the deck so far:

Raging_Squiggle good call, didn't read it well enough.

Hissing Quagmire and Dread Statuary. Not fun to block when they give card advantage.

K I have a draft of mine. I filled it with a lot of lands for fillers so I am open to ALL SUGGESTIONS

Yeah, everyone else pretty much got it lol

Crucible of Worlds seems like the most important card for the deck, but other ways to play lands from other zones, like Oracle of Mul Daya are fantastic.

This deck may be close enough in theme to provide ideas: Legacy Lands for Octrate

Spellshapers!

Undertaker

Greenseeker

Silverglade Pathfinder

Ridged Kusite

Chuck a land, draw a card, get the effect. Bish, bash, bosh.

people have already said it but Crucible of Worlds is a must. its expensive but I'd make sure you have it Life from the Loam and Dakmor Salvage seem pretty good

Alrightie, I've updated my version. It's heavily combo fun, so beware!

I'm a tiny horrified that Mesmeric Orb hasn't been mentioned yet. Each untap counts as a separate trigger, and it's kind of nuts with any of the "whenever one of more ~ is put into your graveyard" (I play it in my Sidisi, Brood Tyrant EDH deck).

So far in my decklist I have:

Volrath's Stronghold

Lotus Vale

Realms Uncharted

Harrow

Constant Mists

Worm Harvest

Tireless Tracker

Edge of Autumn

Petrified Field

Genesis

Bitter Ordeal- use it with a large dredge turn to remove everyone's win-cons lol

See here for the reason Bitter Ordeal isn't good with Dredging.

Dryad Arbor, Zuran Orb, and Dark Heart of the Wood may be worth an honorable mentions. I don't believe they were mentioned yet, but I apologize if they were.
