Maybeboard

I'm aiming to make this project a shared deck, graveyard, & exile format ala dandan.

I'm am currently playtesting and coming up with a few rule clarifications, primarily on how simultaneous draws & discards will operate with a single deck. I'm leaning towards a priority based draw system, where the active player will draw & discard first, then the non-active player in turn order will follow. This mainly will come up when Dark Deal and Smallpox rear their heads.

I am also looking to keep an eye on the number of each card I am including, whether certain effects are needed more of or less of.

This page will function as a primer for the format. Card functions and their strategy are listed below.

Creatures

Ovalchase Daredevil is the premier threat and hand resource of the format. It's ability to be recurred to hand will dictate one of the resource wars in the format.

Instants

Grim Reminder is an alternate wincon, also acting as discard fodder, shuffle effect, and as a hand reveal (Any tutor effect is technically a hand reveal in shared deck formats due to the ability to deduce what's in your opponents hand based on what is left in the library.)

Misinformation is another pillar of the format. It has a lot of uses, graveyard hate, graveyard protection, recursion, top deck manipulation, and anti-deckout. As a 4 of it can allow for a lot of recursive play, something I will be keeping an eye on during playtesting.

Cling to Dust is the format's graveyard nuke, making player priority very powerful as escape has graveyard exile as part of the cost. This makes it so it cannot be responded to from the non-active player. It has the ability to change the game pretty drastically if someone escapes it, so be forewarned when it shows up. It also is a source of life gain, card advantage, and instant speed graveyard interaction.

Fade from Memory is a more simplistic form of instant speed interaction, allowing for a single snipe on graveyard recursion or a single draw from the top of the library.

Sorceries

Psychotic Episode is powerful and checks a lot of boxes. It's a hand reveal and top deck reveal for information, discard with tuck to delay graveyard value, defense against discard due to madness, and in deckout situations an option to swing the last draw out in your favor. With Necrogen Spellbomb it also possible to use it offensively at instant speed.

Ichor Slick also pulls off multiple roles as removal, instant speed draw, and discard defense. It can function as instant speed removal with its own cycling or Necrogen Spellbomb.

Dark Deal is a discard wheel, which also allows one to reset most known information. Be forewarned that Misinformation can lessen this effect.

Smallpox is an interaction piece, which can be leveraged to work less symmetrically. It removes Ovalchase Daredevil, works with madness, and allows for certain lands to be sent to the graveyard (Dakmor Salvage, Mortuary Mire) to be recurred with other cards in the format (Grim Discovery, Shrouded Lore, Misinformation, Wand of Vertebrae)

Yawgmoth's Testament is a specialty piece, and a powerful one at that. I'll be watching this card, as after enough graveyard exile it becomes a very powerful source of card advantage. It also allows for recursion of other recursion pieces like Wand of Vertebrae, making deckout loss less likely. This card is best defeated with discard or mill in combination with graveyard exile as it self tucks when it resolves.

Shrouded Lore is a recursion spell that can leverage Misinformation's and Cling to Dust's graveyard removal to get a card you want back for less mana.

Raven's Crime is a basic discard spell that can add more utility to the lands you draw, attacking your opponent's hand. It can bite back however as your opponents gain access to it as well.

Grim Discovery is one of the format's rare +1s for card advantage, and recurs lands and Ovalchase Daredevil. It can snowball more hand resource by retrieving Vault of Whispers to get back even more Ovalchase Daredevils.

Fortuitous Find is the format's other +1 as it retrieves an artifact and Ovalchase Daredevil to hand. As with Grim Discovery, it can also snag additional Ovalchase Daredevils with the artifact it recurs, allowing for more card advantage than one would expect initially.

Wrench Mind is a low costed offensive discard spell, forcing the opponent to make the choice of discarding 2 cards or discarding an artifact (which are themselves a form of card advantage due to them triggering Ovalchase Daredevils in the graveyard.)

Artifacts

Note: Each artifact can be seen as a +x card advantage spell, where x is the number of Ovalchase Daredevils in the graveyard when one resolves.

Mishra's Bauble allows for a one time top deck peek, free delayed draw, and free Ovalchase Daredevil recursion.

Wand of Vertebrae is a top deck manipulation tool, allowing for a mill or a shuffle of the library. It also is a recursion and graveyard interaction tool.

Necrogen Spellbomb is the format's main form of instant speed discard. This can be used as a form of resource denial or an instant speed madness enabler. It is also a source of instant speed draw.

Howling Mine is in the format to help combat the amount of discard and to speed up the deckout clock. Smart timing alongside top deck interaction can help mitigate the opponent getting the first extra draw out of it.

Brainstone is another rare +1 source of card advantage in the format, and allows for more top deck setup.

Lantern of Insight is a powerful information piece, allowing perfect top deck information for both players, as well as a one time shuffle effect for when you need to try to change the top card or turn off the reveal effect.

Lands

Swamp, good ol' swamp. It comes into play untapped and isn't hit by Wasteland. Pretty good all things considered.

Vault of Whispers comes into play untapped and can net you some Ovalchase Daredevils.

Blast Zone is one of the format's rare artifact removal pieces. It can also hit Ovalchase Daredevils but that option is a little more expensive.

Wasteland wastes lands, which is nice when you want to disrupt your opponent or get Dakmor Salvage in the graveyard.

Underdark Rift is a single use removal piece that can deal with Ovalchase Daredevil or an artifact temporarily. Can also be used to help save yourself from decking out.

Sequestered Stash is a mill piece alongside a top deck recursion piece for artifacts. Can be used to help save yourself from deckout.

Mortuary Mire is a recursion piece for Ovalchase Daredevil. Comes into play tapped unfortunately.

Emergence Zone is a strong piece in the format, as it allows for instant speed shenanigans where you have no business playing normally.

Dakmor Salvage is a self recurrable land, which can also shave two cards off the top of the library. Usually more useful off the battlefield than on, but colored mana is important in the format. Comes into play tapped.

Cabal Pit can act as removal when the graveyard is stacked. Activation is dictated more on Cling to Dust than not in the format, as you can simply respond to most other graveyard hate. Comes into play untapped but its mana can hurt over a long game.

Barren Moor allows for a low cost instant speed draw. Comes into play tapped.
