You are correct, however, it was just in your 'One way to block it' section you only list needing 3 Guard Duty. Sorry I didn't specify further. Moonlace is an instant so we cast after deciding Raging River split so we only need 3. If the defender could cast at flash speed for Guard Duty, then we still only need 3, otherwise we need to add in 3 Sky Tether (if we are concerned about only 4x of cards).

rtdfjyghc Nice stuff in here. Pulling it card by card:

Agility Bobblehead, Awesome Presence, Hungry Lynx, Vectis Gloves and Raging River are going in. Plot Armor's going in the Un- pile. Spectra Ward's redundant with Moonlace + Executioner's Hood, and I'm trying to keep zero redundancy for this experiment. If this became a full deck, redundancy would be a lot more important.

For alternate creatures, I chose Deathcult Rogue because there are fewer than 600 creatures without changeling that can block it right now, so it's a really heavy negative restriction. Any of your suggestions could also fit into the attacker slot, but I'm too lazy to come up with a specific blocking protocol for each of them, to see if they really are less blockable than the Rogue as a baseline and as a final result. That would be a good project for a slow weekend, and all of them are definitely worth noting as potential alternates.

I guess the key question is, how many creatures am I willing to let the blocking player have? As it stands now, if Hexmark Destroyer replaced the Rogue, the only change to the blockers would be how many Lifecraft Engines would need to be on hand. The other options have more distinct blocking scenarios, which would take some digging.

Balaam__ The Executioner's Hood + Moonlace already has that covered, so it's redundant. But good thinking, that's the kind of thing I want.

Delphen7 on How to Handle Quality Changes …

Say Player A casts Moonlace on some nonpermanent spell, such as Lightning Bolt (that is controlled by Player B).

Moonlace has these rulings: "Moonlace’s effect doesn’t wear off." and "If Moonlace is cast on a spell that becomes a permanent, the permanent will enter the battlefield colorless and will remain colorless until it leaves the battlefield (or until another effect changes its color) ". Since Lightning Bolt is not a permanent, it will ostensibly be colorless in the graveyard.

Say Player B casts another Lightning Bolt. There is now a colored Bolt, and a colorless Bolt in the graveyard. If any player casts a shuffle effect, such as Blessed Respite, there is now no way to differentiate the two bolts from each other.

Since it could matter which bolt is which (For an effect like Ceremonious Rejection), how does the game handle differentiating each one?

Delphen7 on Layers + Permeating Mass/Spawnwrithe

This is a lot of questions in one, but they all relate to layers and copy effects of two similar cards so I’m putting them together instead of a bunch of small questions.

The questions involve Permeating Mass, Spawnwrithe, Moonlace, Deep Freeze and Witness Protection from SNC.

1a) If a Permeating Mass is affected by Moonlace, are resulting clones also colorless?

1b) What about Spawnwrithe’s clones?

2a) If a Permeating Mass becomes enchanted by Witness Protection after dealing damage but before the trigger resolves, is the resulting creature also named Legitimate Businessman?

2b) What if it were Spawnwrithe?

3) If Permeating Mass deals damage to a creature enchanted by Deep Freeze style effect, what does the resulting creature look like?

4) If a Spawnwrithe tramples over a Permeating Mass, would the Spawnwrithe copy be a copy of the printed Spawnwrithe, or the Permeated Spawnwrithe?

Thanks!

wow your deck is fantastic mister magical man guy i really think this will take the ([M O D E R N]) format by storm and become the best deck to ever exist ever. Cawblade's legacy will mean nothing in comparison to EnduringHexmageBasicBoomerangRemovalTutorAuramancerIdeal. Undisputed King of the Format will become the deck revered as legend throughout the magic community. I would say it could be even better if you added a few copies of Moonlace in the sideboard.

Wow. I had no idea that my challenge would be so popular, with three responses. I guess I just choose one?

Ok, Moonlace combo card:

Tyrant of Broken Identities-

Creature- Construct

Hexproof

0/1

Colorless permanents you control have : Copy target instant or sorcery spell.

If you control ten or more colorless permanents, you win the game.

Challenge: Create two cards that combo together in the most unfair way possible
