Crackle with Power

Sorcery

Crackle with Power deals five times X damage to each of up to X target creatures, players or planeswalkers.

Davinoth, I don't think I read your primer very well the first time. As a finisher Crackle with Power makes more sense than I thought at first. I was thinking more general removal/board wipe. I'm used to playing Neheb, the Eternal, where you need to deal the damage first, then get cast the high mana spells.

Math is hard lmao. 15 damage to three targets with Crackle with Power is actually only eleven mana, where fourteen gets you 20 damage to up to four targets. I also included one-too-many multikicker payments in my Comet Storm math, so it would be 19 mana as opposed to 11 for CwP.

ElTacoDude: Sorry but I disagree lol. Crackle with Power only costs five mana to deal five damage to a single target, where everything you've listed there is minimum six.

In the case of Fireball & Rolling Thunder you have to divide their damage to hit multiple opponents. Devil's Play & Banefire can only hit a single target, and Fall of the Titans can only hit two targets.

Comet Storm is good but to deal 15 damage to three opponents costs twenty mana whereas Crackle with Power only costs fourteen.

Jaya's Immolating Inferno is something I might consider as an addition as opposed to a replacement. Even then a bit hesitant though - if you're sitting on a lethal amount of treasures and the board gets wiped (as it tends to do haha) and you don't have another cheap-to-cast Legendary in hand, you're cutting into your total damage just to recast Prosper, Tome-Bound in order to meet it's Legendary condition. The spells are meant to be finishers, so you can see how this scenario is not ideal.

All that being said, I'm definitely going to consider Jaya's Immolating Inferno though. Thanks! =)

I don't understand the Crackle with Power, isn't it just the least efficient and least flexible Fireball effect? Rolling Thunder, Devil's Play, Jaya's Immolating Inferno, Fall of the Titans, Banefire, or probably the best one, Comet Storm are all better. I might be wrong, but I think any of those would be an upgrade on Crackle with Power.

Hey alexjustdoit i like Boros Fury-Shield and I've been thinking in replace Mirror Strike with it, since I can use it when one of my opponents is attacking another opponent.

Even though Reflect Damage is not tutorable through Sunforger and it's little more expensive, mana and financially, i feel that it can be useful, not only to protect me from creature damage, but also in situations where someone casts a damage boardwipe like Blasphemous Act or Chain Reaction or when someone casts a big X damage spell, like Crackle with Power, we will reflect all the damage back at the caster.

Not related, but i just found Equal Treatment, which i think can be useful against Craterhoof Behemoth like strategies or to pump 1/1 wide tokens. And draws us a card.

hi! cool deck!

I'm a huge fan of Laelia - my own Laelia Deck is the one I've put the most time and energy into.

I wanted to thank you for running Uba Mask and Silent Arbiter, since I ended up adding them to my own decklist. really awesome card choices.

in terms of recommendations: Fiery Emancipation is a game winner, and pairs hilariously with Brash Taunter and any burn spells you happen to drop. Blasphemous Act, for example, does 13 damage to Brash Taunter, which becomes 39 damage via Fiery Emancipation, then Brash Taunter does 39 damage to target opponent, which becomes 117 damage, again, via Fiery Emancipation. it's a really funny way to nuke someone off the board.

aside from that, Smoke, War's Toll, and Price of Glory are all great hate spells; they can slow the game down and give you enough time to voltron for the win. Tempered in Solitude is a great, cheap exile engine, and Chaos Warp provides red some sorely needed spot removal.

if you wanna go for broke on mana ramp, Gauntlet of Power, Caged Sun, and Mana Flare are all good choices, and Crackle with Power gives you a win con to pour all that mana into.

hope this helps!

Do you think that Crackle with Power would be useful?

Swebb87 on hinata, dawn crowned, meteor blast …

Just wanting to check I'm correct before building the deck, not complex I know but I'd rather be sure.

If I play Meteor Blast with Hinata, Dawn-Crowned in play, does it literally just cost me 3 red mana as each example of X is reduced by 1? Similarly, if cast Crackle with Power stating X = 5, is my actual cost paid 10 colourless and 2 red mana?

Thanks
