Animate Artifact

Enchantment — Aura

Enchant artifact

As long as enchanted artifact isn't a creature, it's an artifact creature with power and toughness each equal to its converted mana cost/mana value.

Cool deck!!
Seems like you are going artifacts. Sakashima makes me want to Animate Artifact on Ugin's Nexus or animate it with Karn, the Great Creator. Then hit it with Rites of Replication kickered and then somehow sac all 6 nexuses like with Arcbound Ravager and then take 6 extra turns. But it seems wildly convoluted so probably a bad idea. Anyway cheers and have fun!!!

that would need Animate Artifact in order to work

Here is all the info the Rules Committee has provided about the MDFCs from the command zone:

  1. Front face of the card needs to be a legendary creature for it to be your commander. Looks like that's going to be true for all the Kaldheim gods, but good to know moving forward.

  2. You can cast either side from the Command Zone; they share a commander tax.

  3. You only do commander damage if the card itself deals damage (i.e. if you cast it as an equipment and equip it to a creature, that creature's damage/a portion of that creature's damage will NOT count as commander damage). If you animate the equipment, with something like Animate Artifact, and deal combat damage with the equipment side, that will count toward Commander damage. That also means that, if in the future, we get MDFCs that are creatures on both sides, they would share commander damage.

As for what your trying to do

Illuna, Apex of Wishes, Proteus Staff , Animate Artifact, & Thassa's Oracle should get you there.

JARTLEONHART on How to equip Helm of …

In order to have multiple copies of helm of the host, you need 3 pieces:

Helm of the Host : Simple. There is only 1 card that suit this role.

A "turn an artifact into creature" card. There are tons of these in different colors, but most are blue:

An "except is not legendary"/"maintain name" clone:

There are some cards that suits the role 2, but don't let you equip the clone. For example: March of the Machines

Conclussion: It's not easy to get it, but possible. It get's lot easier when you add a 4th role as Mirror Gallery letting any clone be of use.

Time Vault + Animate Artifact + Freed from the Real = Infinite Turns in mono-Blue, your commander not required.

Tyrannosaurus_Maximus on Get in the Fucking Robot Teferi

sarkhanisverybroken Thanks for the suggestion! I have considered this, and I think the many issue is that blue has an abysmally low amount of enchantment support of any kind, and they are almost impossible to tutor for. I look at the animate land plan the same way I do the Animate Artifact plan - very difficult to reliably set up and insanely easy to get two-for-oned. The moment he dies, I now have either wasted a one time spell or I have two enchantments in the bin that can't be reliably recurred. It's cute and I absolutely adore the added level of absurdity - especially since Imprisoned in the Moon would make him a Legendary Land Creature - but it highlights the high risk of getting super-two-for-oned that is an inherent problem of auras, something that is only exacerbated by the fact I am in arguably the worst (or at least the second worst) color for enchantments. If there was an artifact that could turn Teferi into a land, then I would be more likely to consider running it along with awaken cards.

Another issue that comes to mind is that Imprisoned in the Moon forces Teferi to lose all abilities, meaning that I can't use any of his untaps or Sleight of Hands, which while not bad, is a bit of a rip.

Thanks for your suggestion, and please don't look at this as me going "oh, give me suggestions, but be warned, I'll shoot every last fucking one of em down"; I love the suggestions because they are great ways to reevaluate the strategies I have developed for the deck. In addition, they allow for growth in the future in the advent a new card comes out that would make viable previously unviable strategies. Also, they're fuckin cool and interesting, and serve as great budget alternatives since I have made the deck kind of absurdly expensive. I'll definitely make a new panel talking budget options since the deck is still functional at a cheaper price - and all these absurd and interesting strategies are easily doable in it. There are now three completely distinct and independently developed ways of turning Teferi into a creature to hit for commander damage, and they all deserve to be shown.

With your updated deck description, I shall try to provide some useful feedback.

  • Chained to the Rocks is a bad card for your deck. Currently, you have 4 mountains plus Evolving Wilds, giving you a fairly insignificant chance of having a mountain in play. Path to Exile would be a better card. It is instant speed, permanently exiles the creature, and the drawback is somewhat inconsequential.

  • Pia's Revolution is pretty useful with Artifact decks.

  • Tezzeret's Touch provides you a strong body for 3 mana, and provides some protection from removal. This would allow your otherwise passive artifacts, such as Mirrorworks, to have a fairly significant presence. Ensoul Artifact does much the same, though without the graveyard recursion. Animate Artifact is another choice, but most of your artifacts are fairly low costed, so your return will be fairly insignificant.

  • Given how many mana rocks you have, Paradox Engine would be a great card.

  • Wurmcoil Engine is a wonderful artifact card.

  • Tome Scour does nothing useful for you.

  • For the Hexproof/shroud you want: Leonin Abunas, Indomitable Archangel.

  • Darksteel Forge is expensive to cast, but you have a large number of mana rocks. Indestructible is always nice to have. Guardian Beast provides indestructible, as well as pseudo-shroud, but does not protect itself.

  • Mycosynth Golem could be a particularly fun card to run, allowing you to cast your artifacts for free.
