Really nice deck. Have you considered any other untap effects, since the exert I’ve always found to be pretty slow without them. Stony Strength would be my top recommendation, just one mana and a permanent buff is pretty nice. Gift of Growth, Aim High and Sudden Spinnerets are all pretty decent too, although you probably won’t want too many more. Hope this is helpful to you, really enjoy this deck.

PlatinumOne, the amount of mana generated by targeting Marwyn, the Nurturer or Viridian Joiner with two or three copies of Savage Surge / Aim High / Gift of Growth is more than enough on T3-4 to storm off with a Rishkar's Expertise or some such, then chain untap/buff spells and draw-based-on-power spells until Marwyn swings for lethal and you've got a Whispersilk Cloak in hand with 50 green mana floating. If an Elvish Archdruid list gets lucky, it might be able to land an Eldrazi titan by turn 4.

Hi JessT! It looks like Armadillo Cloak isn't modern legal!

I might consider consolidating some of your creatures and instead of having two of a bunch of different creatures, choose a few that you'd really like to see come out in a game and give yourself 3 or 4 of them.

I might also think about adding some more cards with a CMC, so that you have a better chance of being able to throw something out there on your first turn.

A cool thing you could possibly do with Pheres-Band Raiders and Pheres-Band Tromper is use cards like Beacon Hawk, Act of Heroism, Aim High, Djeru's Resolve, Gift of Growth, Ornamental Courage, or Prepare to untap them after they've attacked and activate their abilities.

I'm also worried about Pheres-Band Warchief being in there, because if it's out on the battlefield, cards like Pheres-Band Raiders and Pheres-Band Tromper will have vigilance, and thus not tap when they attack and not be able to activate their untap abilities.

Add something with reach or a whatever the standard legal version of Clip Wings/Aim High is. People tend to forget flying exists, so having a way to deal with it is nice, I am on mobile right now so if you do have some creatures with reach ignore me.

I would recommend something to deal with flying like Aim High. There might even be a cheap dino with flying.

First let me say, I LOVE the idea of this deck. It's great, it's charming. Obv, turn 4 and 5 win is difficult to win with in a competitive meta, but a 6 dollar deck? That's just beautiful.

Throne of Geth is about 15 cents per, and it's essentially "2 mana, proliferate". You can also sac a plague myr to it for the proliferation. You don't have any removal once something's down, so maybe 2x Vapor Snag, which is about 80 cents, going down one Fuel for the Cause and one Ruthless Instincts?

Actually, Aim High I think accomplishes really most of what you want from Ruthless Instincts for one less mana, and is a few cents cheaper. Gift of Strength can also work.

And if you use Ruthless more for the trample, then use Predator's Strike instead.

I see a few cards in your list that will rotate out when Ixalan rotates in. Cinder Glade and Game Trail rotate out, so you will probably want to switch them out with Sheltered Thicket and Rootbound Crag. Aim High is also rotating out, Gift of Strength might be a suitable replacement. Avacyn's Judgment also leaves, so you could replace it with Shock since it domes your opponent the same. Arlinn Kord is going to be hard to replace, but maybe Samut, the Tested would work.

I like the deck, but I think a few of your cards are working against your burn theme.I don't think you'll be able to flip Growing Rites of Itlimoc with only 9 creatures in your deck, and Makeshift Munitions doesn't have enough creatures/artifacts to consistently be of use, and even when you have it and creatures, you lose out on damage by sacrificing your creatures. I think adding in Rampaging Ferocidon and filling out your Ranging Raptors would be a better use of those 6 slots. And while Bonded Horncrest seems good as a 5/5 for 4, Ripjaw Raptor will probably be of more use to your deck.

Fury of the Horde would be pretty good if you want extra turns and Paradox Engine should be added to the main board and four Aim High and four Spidery Grasp
