Sorcery (2)

Planeswalker (1)

Artifact (2)

After lots of changes, here's my definitive attempt to create a viable Red/Blue control deck in the competitive Pioneer. The idea is to get the situation under control with the 21 (+8) instants, and 4 sorceries in the deck, then cast the creatures that went on adventure, Chandra, the titan and/or Magma opus to win the game.

RED SPELLS

Play with fire and Stomp are basic spells to kill the first creatures of the opponent or to burn him/her directly and make pressure. If the board gets out of your control, then you have Sweltering suns (or you can cycle it if you don't need it). Bonecrusher giant as a solid threat to take your opponent's life when properly controlled. Chandra, torch of defiance is an unvaluable card that can act as removal, ramp or damaging your opponent, and its -7 means almost always win the game. Chandra also allows to cast the titan/opus combo by turn 4 (turn 2 discard opus to create a treasure, turn 3 chandra, turn 4 chandra adds 2 mana plus 4 lands= cast the titan and the opus for free, which generates an advantage almost impossible to recover). Shatterskull smashing is a great card that can both supply you with mana or, in the late game, kill 2 creatures/planeswalkers.

BLUE SPELLS

Scry, counter, cycle or bounce as needed with Opt, Censor and Brazen borrower (and, just like the giant, cast the faerie once your opponent is under your control to finish him). Torrential gearhulk is a great way to both recover a counter or damage spell that leaves a fat 5/6 who can win by itself the game, besides allowing to cast for free Magma opus, as explained before.

GOLD SPELLS

Ionize to remove the most important threats of your enemy and punish them in return with 2 damage. Prismari command is a versatile spell that can help to ramp or fix your hand (besides having artifact removal is always good idea). Magma opus doesn't need to be explained.

LANDS

Several dual lands to make sure you have the right base of mana every turn. Some of them have an alternative use if you don't need more mana.

SIDEBOARD

Basically 15 cards to use against your opponent depending not on the goal of the deck but on its colors. Thus:

Blue: Fry/Mystical dispute (Essential against other control decks. You can also use this one against any color deck if you need more counterspells).

Red: Aether gust.

Black: Anger of the gods/Tormod's crypt (because the biggest threat of black are things coming back from the graveyard).

Green: Aether gust/Tormod's crypt (green may also have annoying graveyard sinergies, for example Scavenging ooze).

White: Fry/Anger of the gods (white decks usually have many small creatures or tokens).

Chandra, awakened inferno is great against control, graveyard and token based decks, which can threat our izzet control.
